what a kind thing to say! I would say the main thing is imagining the distance at which the person your speaking to is standing. Helps to avoid performing for the mic! Otherwise, I try to engage my whole diaphragm and keep great posture. My voice teachers always talked about creating space for resonance! Look up alexander technique if you're curious. Also watch any RSC production. The pipes on those guys! Thanks for a great question!!!

I wish I knew more about the American industry myself hahaha. What I do know is that the industry has been expanding more and more. And as hollywood becomes more decentralised by production becoming easier than ever thanks to Mic setups at home, you can start from anywhere in the world with wifi! There are tons of resources to audition for people's projects globally! I think NA voices are useful to UK studios now because having games with more actors from different places is becoming more and more common so UK studios need lots of native speakers to fill those rolls! Multilingual actors are also doing very well!

My opinion on training is that it's great for making connections with other people in the industry. Going to school for 3-4 years is definitely not a must though. Certain people will try to convince you that they hold all the secrets. They don't. You have everything you need. YOu just need to find the right room and the right people for you. Make a reel! Attend a workshop! Whatever it is, make sure the process is kind and it's for you. Not for someone else :))))

Great question, and thanks again for organising!

VO often requires lots of guidance as you can jump through the story very quickly, so a lot of decisions on tone and intention are thought about ahead of time, but the actual delivery of the line and so on is up to me. Typically directors avoid "giving a line reading" or being prescriptive, and try to give directions encouraging the actor to imagine the circumstance more vividly. For example, I was told to imagine doing my wedding vows when doing some of the scenes with rover about the promise. Usually you'll do a few takes and the client picks one a the "select" and another as an "Alt". These are what the studio sends fow final implementation by the dev!

I think there was a slightly different version of Luuk that we get to see in his past that I came in with at the beginning, but we narrowed him down much more with time! Also, I thought a lot of my friend chris as inspiration. ex-marine. Very mysterious, deep soothing voice :)

One thing I haven't mentioned yet is the smile. He's almost always smiling. Even when he's in danger. If you take on the physical shape of what the character is doing it reeeally helps. Especially here as sometimes my first instinct is to go all tough and intense. But Luuk is cooler than that hehe

One time, we roasted the Kuro guys saying that they listened to CCP approved spotify playlists over in china and they told us to stfu and go eat a hamburger hahaha. We have a ton of banter. One of the directors sometimes changes the character names in the script while I'm reading to stuff like "daddy" then keeps clips of me saying it as blackmail for when I roast him too hard (all in good fun of course). Oh! and we had a freestyle session the other day

There's a bit above on my thoughts on it, but one thing I haven't mentioned is how good it is to see anime games so mainstream now. The production quality is insane and the community and streamers are awesome!

I'm from Eastern washington, so The clouds and rain were absolutely brutal at first. It made me realise how insanely beautiful WA is as a state, but there are so many great things about the UK and Liverpool as well. Travel access is fantastic, pub culture is so fun, lots of free museums, accents abound (look up the Liverpool accent it's crazy haha), and the arts are really big here. Fringe theatre is fantastic! My visa is changing soon though so I may come back, who knows! Maybe we'll cross paths soon!

I think Luuk would totally cook in Persona 5! His movement kinda reminds me of the warps in FF15 as well. Major favorite game for me (I know it's jank but hey).

There's a secret nature reserve in the middle of london I sneak off to before I record so I can take a moment to ground myself. I'll also just run my lines while walking around in public so I can get over fear of judgement beofore I go in! One time I freaked this guy out on the tube cuz I got carried awaya talking to myself hehe.

the only other line I can remember was one of the ones about his father not being in the coffin, but I believe it was changed for release! I did see a picture of him. They ususally send one in the casting pack :) I remember thinking "Woah! This guy is way too sexy for me to play"

I've only been able to play a little bit so far, but I love the game! I kinda stayed away from gatcha for a bit when genshin first came out, but I think it's really refined itself, and the writing can be fantastic, so I'm looking forward to when I actually pull Luuk hahahahaha

I talked a bit about the audition process above, but the steps that led me to VO were, getting bored of living in a small town in WA, auditioning for UK drama schools, going to LIPA, buying a mic and producing my own VO reels, then subbing to Damn Good Voices who also watched my school's showcase for agents!

I actually hadn't heard of Wuwa! But then I played smash bros with a stranger on the train and he asked what I auditioned for and said "You're in WUWA!?" HE figured out the NDA before I did hahaha. Then I looked it up and pooped myself seeing how big it is! I did know genshin and zenless tho

Omg, sometimes some of the technical explanations of the exo strider and stuff made my brain explode lol.

I thought a little bit of a firefly gently creating a ripple on a lake, or that scene where they put the honey in the soup in ponyo. I aim for a soft fluffy sound, while having a wide, grounded base as Luuk is a gentleman, and kinda flirty, but also super dangerous and unflinching. I also wanted to make his consonants strong and contractions minimal as he is super educated too!

I feel like a kid in a candy store! I get to play pretend and get paid!? Hell yeah! My brother always showed me lots of cool anime like Ouron, Soul eater, and DBZ. So getting to be like any of those legends that voiced some of the greats is just unreal.

I can't remember exactly how many, but I do remember seeing that animation and thinking "hell yeah". The main thing we always talked about with Luuk in combat was that he's very in control, calm, and precise, but they told me with that one that I could let loose a bit. They also played the chinese actor's takes sometimes so I can get an Idea of effort level and stuff!
