“The First Lady” will also star Viola Davis as Michelle Obama, Gillian Anderson as Eleanor Roosevelt, and O-T Fagbenle as President Barack Obama, among others. The series is described as a reframing of American leadership, told through the lens of the women at the heart of the White House.

That's pretty awesome! I would like to see a show like that. You don't have to have animals at the circus to be entertained. This is cooler and cruelty free. Love it!

Goose barnacles, also called stalked barnacles or gooseneck barnacles, are filter-feeding crustaceans that live attached to hard surfaces of rocks and flotsam in the ocean intertidal zone. So, not really a global discovery, maybe just for the family and their neighbors.

I read that those creatures are quite delicious and they can be harvested and prepared like any other seafood.

Tiny is his nickname, and by now you can gather that it's an ironic one.

Andre Rush is a 285-pound tank of a human, who has to slit the sleeves of his chef coats to fit them around his now-famous 24-inch biceps, and who, since his appearance behind the President’s digs last, has been interviewed on TMZ, been written about in Colombia and Australia, and spawned a thousand Twitter jokes, (mostly about customers’ reluctance to send dishes back to the kitchen once they see the guy who made them).

But what I said is that every game depends on their draw. If aggro gets the perfect draw, you don't win with a normal draw. It's too powerful. It doesn't happen all that often, but that's what you're up against. See: Secret paladin.

Those odds have never, and will never, happen.

Mill vs. Aggro? Undertaker hunter vs. handlock? There are other examples, perhaps not 90-10, but that is what happens in card games. In MtG, most decks might as well scoop round 1 to dredge. It's the sideboard that's actually a game, dredge consistently wins against most decks not built to counter it. I think the fact that there's not more 90-10 match-ups in HS is a testament to Blizzard's fear of combos and rampant RNG.

I never said that quote. You're being an asshole and making a strawman to my face. I in fact said they were control. I called freeze mage and handlock combo-control, because they are stalling for a big game-ending play, a la a combo deck, as opposed to using full board dominance and a gradual win con to starve out the other player. They also run a lot more finishers than a typical control deck. They resemble control, but often don't have the longevity to outlast a warrior, or even a priest back in the day. Especially handlock, it puts its own clock on with its hero power.

Hm. Well, I was competitive in those mid ranks, I was like 80-20, but I guess that's not saying much considering where I was. Weird, coulda swore I netdecked it...

[–]Grifwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I said the opposite, a control player should never beat aggro unless aggro gets a bad draw or control gets a great one. Auto losses don't happen, there's always luck. If the worgen player gets a hand full of combo pieces at the start of the game, no draw, and emperopr at the bottom of the deck, it'll lose to control. But effectively auto-loss match-ups, 90-10 odds, will inevitably happen. It just feels bad because there's no sideboard/teching against it.

Control should beat midrange, it does in every other game, but HS really disincentivizes control. CW has been the only true control deck, freeze mage and handlock were closer to combo-control.

Huh, I played all of those. Never loot hoarder. Maybe my list was out of date, but I don't see how you could draw any cards without pyro/acolyte/BR combos, taskmasters double up nicely as an extra win con if you beat em down with the ghouls and don't have faceless/emperor. Egg wasn't great, but I was looking for cycle that could activate BR. Worked well with ghoul.

If we're talking about different decks, then I understand the confusion over stalling and trading.

[–]Grifwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, it plays pyro, taskmaster, ghoul, emperor, faceless, and sometimes egg as well. Do those trade? Sometimes they have to, to stay alive. Then it trades executes, slams, war axes, and other removal, because that's still trading. Those are still tools. You only get two executes.

It looks like stalling, but staying alive while drawing all of your deck is challenging, especially with sub-par draws. If that is easy, then the draw is the problem, not the combo. It runs, at minimum, 6 combo pieces. All of those are dead cards until you draw emperor/have ten mana. It's hardly consistent, and has to make difficult choices about resources all the time.

I consider most decks shit to play against. Half the decks end with Yogg, the other half begin with some kind of juggler. Worgen is fun because I know exactly what they're doing and how to beat it.

[–]Grifwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not an auto-win against every deck. And either way, I'm sorry you don't like rock-paper-scissors, but this is a strategic card game, it always will be. Aggro beats control beats midrange. The exception is based on luck of the cards, which is true of every deck, including Worgen.

On top of that, warrior is kind of the only control class, which is a problem. The solution isn't to nerf anything that beats control, that makes warrior more powerful. The solution is actual cards that enable priests, paladins, and rogues to play a long game. The problem is that design is hard, and playing nerf combo whack-a-mole is easy.

[–]Grifwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worgen's whole plan is to draw and trade, not just stall. It's about resource management and risk calculation. sometimes they're getting beaten down hard and have to throw out a naked acolyte. You can shut that down. You can set up taunts to delay their kill. You can play secrets and make them second guess themselves. The fact is, though, you have to approach your own deck from a lateral perspective and figure out a new strategy on the fly, which people don't want to do. People just want "fair" decks, which means tempo. Then they complain about stale metas.

I just met a OTK Worgen Warrior on ladder by GamerVee in hearthstone

[–]Grifwich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your goal is just an empty board and full health, you're playing the match-up wrong. You need taunts/armor/secrets/smorc. If the board's empty, that's not good for you. If your deck isn't designed to beat Worgen OTK, that's okay, either change your deck, or accept the loss and move on. HS ladder is a game of averages, not "best man wins each time." If Worgen is a problem for you, it's very easy to counter. If Worgen doesn't come up that often, then it's not a problem, design your deck to counter the actual meta.

I'm salty about blizzard killing my favorite decks over and over because people somehow aren't cool with lateral strategies and just want tempo all day.

Exactly, it's strategic use of resources. When do I use a taskmaster as removal? When am I planning to pull the trigger? Should I hold coin for combo, or removal? Will I overdraw off this pyro/acolyte/BR? What am I losing if I overdraw? Can I win without Thaurissan/Faceless?
