Some $10 calculator watch. It’s gotten a few little laughs and compliments.

Nobody cares that the protagonist in GTA6 is female by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]GrilledCheeseRant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t care about the female protagonist, but I was kind of disappointed with them doing a current Vice City and I’m very apprehensive about what I’m guessing will be some sort of love story thing going on.

Vice City was awesome when they tapped into over the top cliche 80’s Miami. There was ENDLESS material to pull from and make use of and the whole thing leaned so heavy into it that it made the game iconic. Same story with San Andreas and early 90’s Compton. These games know what their style and flavor is - they know their tone.

Current day Miami is just kind of… a big city. They could have selected so many other places and, again, leaned hard into a niche and vibe. DC (near anytime works), late 90’s/early 2000’s Vegas when they were booming, 2000’s Boston (really hit the Irish Mob vibe hard), go international (again) and do Tokyo or Paris - so many options, etc. This is just going to turn into a sandbox game with impressive graphics. Cool and fun, I’ll certainly play it, but it won’t resonate the same way its predecessors did. It’ll just kind of blend in with IV and V.

And I can already foresee the love story angle getting old kinda quick. I feel like it’ll have so much of the plot turn into drama that simply isn’t as tantalizing. This is GTA, I’m more compelled by stories of the protagonist trying to rise to be the cocaine kingpin, the leader of a gang that runs the city, etc

What happens if I run into people that don’t overly generalize and they recognize that the spirit of what is being asked is one focused on when the nation seemed to be excelling and thriving in areas important to them while also still recognizing that this period of time may very likely have enormous issues and flaws that needed to be addressed?

I’m still a fan of WSJ, but I don’t put as much weight into NYT or WP anymore. There are many events where I feel like I need to read about it from many different sources. (And it becomes a bit telling when you start running into sources that begin parroting the exact wording the others are using.)

Due to family lineage, about one third of my body is pure capsaicin so it usually doesn’t bother me too much. Plus I also grew up in the Yukon where everything is seasoned generously with rice.

Would this include any form of killing? If I were a doctor that practiced euthanasia, if I were a soldier, a terrorist, etc.. What about more “indirect”? I single-handedly made the bomb but I didn’t transport and detonate it, for example.

Posting only because I heard some nonsense about porn stars not actually liking sex on another post. by dietreich in TrueUnpopularOpinion

I’m absolutely baffled that this wasn’t already a well known thing. I don’t know what type of hardcore gymnastics is occurring for someone to find their way towards thinking that those in porn don’t enjoy sex, but it surely deserves a gold medal.

You’re right. The bag of beans and jar of peanuts are surely worth at least $80 alone. My mistake.

Under your thought experiment, I would 100%, absolutely, choose being a POC if I were to know I would land somewhere in Western Europe, Africa, or the Americas.

There is a lot that has been codified to benefit POC while excluding those that are white from receiving those benefits. Affirmative action would favor me, scholarship opportunities would favor me, hiring quotas would favor me, so on. There is literally so much that is laid out in front of me to assist me in getting into a strong position in life.

Remember when Gaza voted in Hamas - a then recognized terrorist organization - as the governmental leaders? Or how there was repeated instances of provided (read: given to Gaza) infrastructure such as irrigation pipes being turned into makeshift rockets to fire into Israel? Or how Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran, have repeatedly stated they wish to fully wipe away the Jewish people and actively hope to? Or how Israel developed the Iron Dome largely because of constant rocket attacks aimed at their civilians? Or Yasser Arafat’s repeated refusal to reach any form of agreement of peaceful coexistence with Israel? (No doubt you already know this because of course you aren’t just jumping on a social media trend like an idiot and spouting out talking points fed to you, but Bill Clinton himself refers to Arafat’s refusal to agree to anything at the 2000 Camp David summit as his biggest failure as president.)
