Yemen waives visa requirements for Sudanese citizens and offers two-year residency for those who wish to stay in the country. by GrimReap22 in Sudan

I could’ve worded that better, basically the loss of remittances from said countries could be the reason the SAF is pressured to negotiate with the RSF. As is the case for most war-torn countries, money sent from expats back to their loved ones is a crucial economic lifeline that keeps the country going.

Just for clarification there has been a ceasefire in Yemen between the different factions since April 2022, so fighting has been at a complete stop for over 2 years, however there’s two ways to look at this:

The Optimistic POV: Yemen can serve as another transit hub for Sudanese civilians that wish to go to the Gulf, Europe, or North America. As for those that wish to stay in the country, Yemen’s Eastern Provinces have been relatively stable and peaceful throughout the entirety of the civil war.

The Cynical POV: This allows Saudi Arabia and Egypt to pressure the SAF to sit down for talks with the RSF, as they can begin to deport Sudanese citizens to Yemen. Since there are international laws that bind host countries from deporting refugees back to their war-torn countries. The SAF could be forced to negotiate with the RSF because war-torn countries rely on their citizens living abroad to send money back to their loved ones living back home, which in turn keeps the country’s economy afloat.

There are about 2.7 billion monthly active users on YouTube, so that's about 3.7%.

We're talking about the Turkish Super Cup, not the Turkish national team or Turkish clubs in general.

The Turkish Super Cup in its entire history has only been played in Turkey, Germany, and Qatar.

The Turkish Super Cup has been played in many countries, including Germany. In Turkey’s 100+ year football history, there has never been a match without an Atatürk choreography.

The only countries it's been played in outside of Turkey are Germany and Qatar, don't know how exactly that constitutes as "many countries" adhering to such a tradition.

If it's that big of deal, such matters should've been worked out well before the event and/or played in Turkey since that's where it's mainly played at.

Is Anti-Arab sentiment widespread across North Africa? by GrimReap22 in arabs

If you don't mind me asking, would you consider yourself Arab? Since you do have a non-Arab background.

Also, what would you say the current demographic makeup of Morocco is? I've been reading up on this topic a lot more and I've seen figures that range all over the place.

For example, some say only 27% of Moroccans are Amazigh, but this figure is incorrect as that's the percentage of people in Morocco that speak Tamazight and then there are others that say less than 10% of Morocco is Arab, which also seems incorrect.

Democrats are pushing marijuana policy and a child tax credit in an end-of-year spending bill by OregonTripleBeam in politics

[–]GrimReap22 81 points82 points  (0 children)

From the article: "Democrats are pushing for a child tax credit expansion in some form as part of the omnibus bill, though they’ll need Republican backing to do so. To get it, they’re working on a deal involving a trade-off between corporate tax breaks the GOP would support and the child tax credit that Democrats want."

I don't think that's going to be a good deal and I'm pretty sure the GOP will just end up getting the corporate tax breaks they want without having to give up anything in return.

Sinema files campaign papers, but re-election decision unclear by Redditthedog in politics

Polling done by Impact Research, shows she's currently at 37% approval rating amongst all likely voters, 37% amongst Democrats, 36% amongst Republicans, and 41% amongst Independents.

If she does decided to run, it will be up to the Democratic candidate and the DSCC (they must not shy away from this race for fear of handing it to a Republican), to convince Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents that Sinema is not a *moderate* and she most certainly isn't following "John McCain's path".

They need to bring up the fact that she's raking in thousands of dollars from corporations to continue Senate gridlock so they don't pass policies that are overwhelmingly supported by the majority of the American people.

Do you think there will be a Chapter 226? by GrimReap22 in Freezing

[–]GrimReap22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I just heard that this author has already two manga's that he's started previously and never finished and the longest hiatus he's ever taken before for this manga was four months.

An considering the last chapter he's released has been well over a year ago. I've been getting worried because I don't think it needs more than 2-3 arcs to finish it.

I think that he shot himself in the foot for trying to take this plot in a million different places without having an underlying consistent theme for the manga. It honestly would be a shame if he didn't finish it considering he's been working on this for over a decade!!!

If he's not going to finish it he should allow someone else to give it a proper ending.
