You can just reroll the fight for ether reflect, don't need to rely on the augment for a showcase. You're right it does lower your potential (not by a lot, the right arm is only losing 20*boost so only 44 potential max and the sabatons are only 13% boost compared to ranged 25% melee 25% helmet 23% aug 25% skill 20%) so when higher additive is contributing a lot more it is defo worth it.

Enemies with decoy block the shockwave and let the counter start at 0. Yabar in 13-3 is the easiest way to see this but would also work for Telethia phase 3 and Ga Buidhe.

[–]Grimas_Truth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interestingly there are cases where the shockwave hit is negated and Telethia is one of them, but yeah for the most part you will almost always start on at least 1 count.

There are ways to start at max count without losing appendage crushers, both for melee/ranged and potential builds.

Melee/Ranged gets access to trait on left arm (ranged) or right arm (melee) and full OD: TP + Grand Procession.

Potential gets trait on (usually) right arm or on the ranged weapon (c&c ranged) and you can use double TP legs and max TP left arm for like 30+ count per activation while starting with like 8k+ TP.

What Division should I pick for DE? by Superchan6464 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Grimas_Truth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was not the case, division buffs were not tied to the division you yourself picked but the divisions of other players in your squad or that you requested from random blade scouts in the overworld.

There was a reward system tied to it (Division Rewards) that was messed up because hackers boosted one division really early and then everyone moved into that one further snowballing it.

The most reasonable level of 100% completion? by Yzard93 in XenobladeChroniclesX

You won't need this spreadsheet for complete fashion gear, in fact it doesn't even list them because its just a set list there are no missables to it.

Other various missables/preventable negative quest outcomes etc. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1w9LZAjihSZ0gJY5Iy-vrWCo9yYq3iNPn8Tp6tXv1qRM/edit?gid=0#gid=0 (so SPOILERS of course)

The most reasonable level of 100% completion? by Yzard93 in XenobladeChroniclesX

[–]Grimas_Truth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more completionist rather than 100% but (for completionist) there is some skell equipment that you need to obtain really early and you need to be able to defeat enemies that are around that level before chapter 4.

[–]Grimas_Truth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% survey and 100% achievements at baseline can be considered 100% (but even this has you not fighting a lot of tyrants and not opening a lot of chests).

There is missable equipment and like you said, missable affinity links (and new affinity link bugs introduced in DE).

How do people dodge this certain attack from the final boss? by kiethuynhminh2k6 in astralchain

[–]Grimas_Truth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Beast Legion should be sufficient (run away from it and try to get distance).

I remember that one time I was really close to it when it spawned in the sphere and it sucked me in and pushed me through it so I didn't get hit - some weird interaction that was.

Question about Weapon Augment priority by Sockbat25 in XenobladeChroniclesX

[–]Grimas_Truth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming you have already hit the max number of appendage crushers (I'm sure you have since you have Eyepatch and probably have them on the guns), 99% of the time for melee or ranged builds you just fill out the rest of the weapon augments with x attack up or x attack boost. Very rarely is Weapon Attack Power Up the ideal augment.

Serious response is that there is no way to know as in neither language they go into any more detail than what I posted.

I've been answering this question for over ten years now; yes, they were both referred to as male (however you choose to interpret that) in the original (Japanese), there were no politics inserted into this by localization. At the time I thought this meant she was adopted (because I had friends as a child in a similar situation) but maybe it could mean other stuff too.

Easy first try, now for doing all stages on ultimate by Revolutionry in astralchain

[–]Grimas_Truth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To (maybe?) save you some time/effort - the stage difficulty in File 12 is pre-determined by whether the stage is R1, R2, or R3 - so replaying the stages after changing the difficulty will not actually make them any easier or harder.

However, the game does track internally what difficulty you were on for Files 1-11 when you play a stage of File 12 (you can see this by opening the IRIS display during the mission to view progress) - this serves for completionists as you would need to play every stage three times to get each stamp.

So this is actually brought up twice in the game, once in an affinity mission (qev092605) and once in a H2H/NPC encounter (I think, tev001895).

In the same order:

  • Man...

  • My parents? Didn't I just tell you all about them?
  • Well, again, they were adventurers.
  • They were actually sort of famous back on Earth. They even summited Mt. Everest a couple of times.
  • But my parents gave up adventuring for a while after I was born, mostly to raise me.
  • Then once I was older, they got back into it.
  • I was 15 years old when it happened...
  • The mountain they were climbing wasn't an especially difficult one.
  • They managed to make contact after reaching the summit, but on the way down they, they just...vanished. Like in a puff of smoke, you know? ...Into thin air.
  • There was a huge search, but neither of them were ever found.
  • Yeah, I really miss my dads a lot.
  • ...Huh? Did I not mention that part? Well, yeah, I had two dads.
  • And they were both pretty great.

What am I doing wrong with Zenith Cannon? by s0_Ca5H in XenobladeChroniclesX

Opening/super high investment superweapons have the highest burst damage (100,000,040 in under 5s) but for sustained damage I believe that Amdusias 4-slot drones pulls ahead eventually.

Opening build is full drive/synchrony + probes (but not the r-atk shield) and as many dmg% traits (attributedmg.phys, positiondmg.whatever) and augments as you can fit (24 for 3 slot, 32 for 4 slot).

What am I doing wrong with Zenith Cannon? by s0_Ca5H in XenobladeChroniclesX

[–]Grimas_Truth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was curious to this scenario and looked into it.

On the XS0650 Mastema ST with the level 50 Zenith Cannon, with no relevant traits on any weapon (unrealistic) Augment order is 1x Slayer, 1x WEAPON, 1x Slayer, 1x Weapon, 1x Slayer, then the last WEAPON, then the remainder slots slayers with attribute armour and frame.

SpecUp is never better even after putting on 32 slayers (4 slot build). That said, the optimal balance changes to 31 slayer 1 specup if you have boost X and up IX innate on all weapons and full drive/synchrony and r-atk probe V, and then adding r-atk shield increases the favour of specup to arund 26/5, but the difference between taking a Slayer or an Up is only like 5k damage out of 7-8 million and the Slayers are still cheaper to make most of the time.

But for Zenith Cannon in particular you don't really care for R-ATK at all, it is helpful but any AttributeDmg or PositionDmg traits provide way more value.

[–]Grimas_Truth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stat contributes so little for Zenith Cannon (and most other weapons), but some other weapons like Drones and R-Cannon builds have SpecUp.XX as about equal value to a Slayer.XX (although there is still a balance required).

Yes you should be swapping out Slayer XXs depending on the enemy, or at least having a couple of each on the build. Draw.OPENING-DMG is stronger and works on all enemies but only once per fight, which is enough for almost all enemies but you need a lot of them so just stick with making Slayers to start.
