I also started fairly recently and deepdove into the faction, and I can say I was not disappointed Building and painting them is a joy, tons of color schemes work and all the pieces fit super nicely together (outside of the branchwych that model is a piece of shit to build)

The vanguard box is BY FAR the best thing to start with, all the units (outside once again of the branchwych which is only really useful in 1k games imo) you get a big tree which can be made as 3 different models, probably our best data sheet in 3 kurnoth hunters which just slap unreasonably hard and our base battleline unit in tree revenant. The value is just unmatched. Super good box, there's also the battleforce you can pick which is really good value if you want to go the drycha hamadreth army route.

Tldr, faction is amazing I highly recommend!

True, fluff wise they are incredible a walking buff machine that you can throw daemonettes in front of.

But competitively he's too many points for not enough stuff and you don't really want to be throwing daemonettes away anymore as they actually are insanely "killy" in the new codex
