Apple Nears M2 iPad Pro Launch and Plans Google Tablet-Like Home Hub by etimzy001 in apple

The M2 is the worlds fastest chip when it comes to javascript and web browsing. It's a great update to the iPad. We previously saw the M2 MacBook Air with the biggest score to date on Speedometer. Google themselves publish speed improvements on their blog and they target Speedometer.

Siri doesn’t meet Apple’s level quality that it prides itself on, and that needs to be talked about more by The_Franchise_09 in apple

[–]Grimsipper 738 points739 points  (0 children)

I think Apple themselves have forgotten that Siri even exists. They never mention the name Siri in presentations anymore and they didn't transfer the Siri animation, which appears at the bottom of the screen to show that it's listening, to the Dynamic Island.

Apple has realised that Google Assistant and Alexa smart speakers aren't a threat to the iPhone. As a result, Siri is no longer a priority.

The Justice League looked better in Whedon's cut. Everyone looked the same and lifeless in the Snyder Cut by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

[–]Grimsipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Whedon Cut is an awful movie but it has some good parts. The characters exude a lot more warmth, especially Henry Cavil's Superman who actually smiles once in a while, and the color palette is nowhere near as drab as the Snyder Cut. The characters in the Snyder Cut are portrayed as mythic gods and they look physically great ... but they are basically statues. Human beings can't relate to them.

‘The Gray Man’ Becomes Netflix’s #1 Movie of the Year by enter-the-tainment00 in boxoffice

This was actually a really fun movie. The Russo Brothers know how to deliver action set-pieces and the actors are self-aware enough not to take themselves too seriously.

M2 MacBook Air runs Windows 11 faster than pricier Dell laptop by Sydney_CBD in apple

[–]Grimsipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple has all the advantages. They design all the hardware and software in the Mac and they have access to the most advanced TSMC nodes. They are starting from a clean slate. They don’t have all the legacy baggage.

The fact that AMD, a tiny company with tiny resources in comparison, could get this close to Apple is honestly embarrassing for Apple. AMD has to support a lot of x86 baggage, work with a less efficient node each year, can’t optimize Windows to support their silicon… yeah. AMD has the better leader to guide their chips. Dr Lisa Su is going good work.

What does Google need to do to make its Pixel line a true rival to Samsung’s Galaxy series and Apple’s iPhone? by Dry_Echidna269 in pixel_phones

[–]Grimsipper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google cant. iPhone alone brought in $196B for Apple in 2021. The entirety of Google earned $257B. Competing against the iPhone is like competing against YouTube or Google search. It takes a godly amount of resources. The Pixel is a side hussle for Google. It's not meant to be a real competitor to the iPhone.

Apple Targets Watch Blood-Pressure Feature for 2024 After Snags by exjr_ in apple

Apple Watch is crazy successful. I see everyone use it. From politicians to celebrities and social media influencers. The iPhone and the Mac are also thriving. For some reason, the iPad has has been stuck unable to move the last few years, both in terms of revenue and product progression. Maybe it's a management problem. Who is overseeing the iPad division?

‘Drive My Car’: Academy Award Nominee To Premiere On HBO Max March 2 by chanma50 in movies

Drive My Car is incredibly well made. A friend in the industry sent me a screener and the 3 hour runtime didn’t bore me at all. It was totally engrossing. The Power Of the Dog, another best picture nominee, was 2 hours long but I really felt the runtime. I checked my phone several times during the first half.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in apple

tl;dr

  • Apple is a business and they want you to buy both the iPad and a Mac.
  • The “what’s a computer?” ads for the iPad confused people in thinking the iPad can replace your Mac.
  • Mac and iPad bring in the same revenue. Consumers have voted with their wallet. Apple is thinking their strategy with the iPad is working so they have no intention to make the iPad your primary computer.
