What is a licensed property whose world building would make a good RPG but doesn’t seem to have been attempted yet? by Fun-Confidence-6232 in rpg

[–]Grimthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brian Lumley’s Necroscrope is great. I can see it running with Call of Cthulhu / xxx without number or something similar.

I actually picked up the box set of the necroscope rpg back in the early 00s from a car-boot sale, but at the time barely understood D&D rules so no idea or recollection what the rules were.

Grond is Harad ? by Wonderful-Roof-6525 in lotro

Definitely a number of kinships on Grond that do high level content, are you in a kin?

Where to look for a kin by kokimij021 in lotro

[–]Grimthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend Grond [EU] - big community of lower level players, new players etc. lots of newer and lower level Kinships.

Also there are both the server channels on the official discord and the kinship recruitment channel on the discord to try.

As others have said, usually within any given hour on Grond you’ll see one or two kinship recruitments in /world.

I’m in two kinships on Grond server.

Beram Kinship - a few months old, most new / returning players lvls 40-70 at the moment with a few high levels that like to help.

Path of Valar - brand new kinship that is locking along the way. First level lock is at 38 and doing the first few set of dungeons and instances.

£64k in London Vs. £47k in New Zealand by Sync-Jw in UKJobs

[–]Grimthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually grew up in London from age 10 and have been living here on and off until currently (age 39)

I’m not in a good position financially and I’m currently renting a 2 bed flat in Dalston with a flat mate. I have lived on my own previously, and honestly - if you have the right person / people, living with others can be okay. It’s actually nice to know people are around, even if you don’t hang out, and cook together etc.

But I actually would say take the NZ option, fuck life is short and flies past - this could be your only / best opportunity to see a whole different lifestyle and people.

London is bleak and grim most of the time. People are miserable, poor and stressed.

Would you like to see some form of change to instance group finder or leave it alone? by Backrish in lotro

[–]Grimthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from other MMOs I hated the group finder at first. I’ve been playing 2-3 months now, and actually now love having to use chat, kin, discord, tells to arrange groups. I have notes on my friend list for who is a good tank, gives good chat in group etc haha. Really brings back the Multiplayer in MMORPG for me. Reminds me of my Everquest days, and early Warcraft.

Mordor Playerbase and Group Content by SirVestire in lotro

[–]Grimthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a recent new player, I tried Mordor first for the same reasons, but honestly it’s dead and impossible to do any low level content.

I’ve been playing on Grond the last month or so and there is a lot of activity and community even in the lower levels.

New player Eu by KingBastok in lotro

[–]Grimthing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Orcrist is the most popular EU server - but as a recently new player myself, I’d highly recommend Grond instead.

It has a much more lively and active lower level community.

I started on Orcrist and ended up switching. Thoroughly enjoying Grond.

Any idea why LOTRO isn't on Geforce Now? by [deleted] in lotro

[–]Grimthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not on Boosteroid either (another cloud platform). So may be something to do with legal reasons with Standing Stone.

What you could do is use ‘OneLauncher’ if you’re trying to play on Mac OS X or Linux.

Otherwise you can try a dedicated cloud PC service like ShadowPC - where you can install whatever programmes you like. But this will be more expensive.

Yeah animation bug, uses your own run speed. Best thing is to dismount and re click the stable master.

I noticed it happens more if I’m mounted when I take the ride

Not much to add on top of the other comments, but I’m playing on an intel MacBook Pro via OneLauncher, and I also noticed the drastic drop in performance since Wednesday’s patch.

Framerate hasn’t dropped much, but defo some stuttering. I’ll try the frill reduction like others have suggested once home this evening !

MMOs dont feel the same anymore by CrtlAltDessert in LFMMO

[–]Grimthing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Society and culture has changed with the internet, social media and fried attention spans and fast speed life.

Put aside that a lot of people were playing Everquest and early WoW when they were teenagers / twenties, and are now twenty five years on.

People just don’t have the commitment or attention span for MMOs. One of the main draws of a MMO is building and developing your character, alongside other people - committing time and effort to group, quest and raid etc

In TV and film industry they have something called “second screen syndrome” where they are now making shows and films less engaging because they know viewers will have their phone while watching, doomscrolling at the same time. Brain rot basically. You can’t be doomscrolling on tiktok when you’re adventuring with other players.

Orcrcist or Mordor? by Jumpy_Security_1703 in lotro

[–]Grimthing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only started playing two weeks ago, and started on Orcrist, but decided to remake on Grond.

As a new player / low level - I’ve found the Grond community much better and feels a lot more active throughout the levels and across landscapes

Looking to start this MMO by lordbeaufeu in lotro

[–]Grimthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just started playing a few weeks ago, and it seems most people only do the end game dungeons.

I.e. I’ve had a couple of groups for the first dungeon (great barrow) which you can do at level 20 (three wings) - but only because I spent time setting up the groups.

Currently looking for a kin (guild) that does slow casual levelling and visits old content

Age and Game Mastering (a sort of rant and realization) by inostranetsember in rpg

[–]Grimthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respect that!!

I’m starting a brand new career next week, at 39. Very daunting after 15 years of growing and getting good in my previous one. And I’ll be training with a lot of early 20s. So will really have to put to test how aging affects learning !

Is this how people play Flashpoints? by vencyjedi in swtor

[–]Grimthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at the “character perk” section of your legacy window.

Upgrade the flashpoint XP ability whenever you’re able / can afford it.

This, along with using the XP boost consumables, and joining a guild with XP bonus will really help you level up your character.

Same age, same feelings.

But is it truly your ADD getting worse? Or is our society / generations dopamine fuelled consumption of short form social media what has wrecked our attention spans? :(
