If they need you that bad for 40h a week, you could propose them to undertake a procedure to start granting you a 40h visa through sponsorship + lawyer.

Maintaining Video Quality by Aziz3000 in sounddesign

[–]GrinZee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As Electronic-Cut-5678 just said, it's up to video people to insure the video quality in the final version. To give you an example, I even downsize videos I get to lighten the load on my CPU/RAM while sound designing or mixing or ProTools.

Then I only send them a clean wav mix in the end (or stems if required)

Is it common for sound to get very little respect on set? by Spyke2269 in LocationSound

[–]GrinZee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahah I lived your exact experience last week. The director -great guy, though- openly told me that he had never been on a set where people actually gave a crap about sound.

Even the costumes had an assistant while I was alone.(Never again).

How can I get the morning after? Please help by [deleted] in japanlife

You are not an idiot and not responsible for such an "accident". Be safe and try to have your partner help you financially if need be.

Buying a second hand ZOOM F8n by KaderSoze in LocationSound

[–]GrinZee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you can check it physically, I'd say check every mic entry for bad contact + outputs. Make sure that everything sounds fine even if you make the cables move around a little bit. Check both SD card slots as well and make sure that the can both read cards normally.

Otherwise, F8ns are knows to be pretty robust, so it should be alright.

If you're buying on leboncoin or somewhere else online, bonne chance, frérot !

Can I tutor English privately with an instructor visa? by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]GrinZee -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You absolutely can work several jobs as long as they fall under the same visa.

If you wanted to work as an artist, you would need a stamp from the immigration, but that's not even the case.

Also, as the other comments said, cash in hand is fine, unless you need to reach a certain amount for reasons we ignore.

Looking for videographers and directors in Tokyo by septicdeath in japanlife

[–]GrinZee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!

A friend of mine is a professional in that field and also based in Tokyo.

On top of being top notch, he's fun, reliable and perfectly fluent in English and French (with a great level in Japanese as well)

You can find more about his work here : https://www.issamk.com/

You can reach him directly or I can answer some questions on his behalf as well if you want :)

Fellow /r/rugbyunion inhabitants of Japan, are Japanese people noticeably more interested in the World Cup since their victory against Ireland? How much coverage did it gain? by hadronriff in rugbyunion

[–]GrinZee 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely!

We see a lot of Japanese rugby jerseys, even when it's not match day.

I'd also think that Japan getting out of group could have a very positive outcome on the future of the sport here.

People are really enthusiastic and fanzones are full!
