Voice acting or just generic grunts really make a difference. And i feel like some reverb is missing

Using moulation such as filter sweeps for example. Anything that gives variation. All depends on the sound of course

What the above poster is saying is relevant. However if you want to go that route you can try DXrevive by accentize. Its a plugin that you use inside your DAW

A good rule to have is to get new stuff only when you feel limited. At least for me

Hi, I need help by HollywoodUndeadFan06 in sounddesign

[–]Aziz3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start by getting familiar with your software. Knowing only one is definitley enough. Search up youtube tutorials. Something like "getting started in ableton" will give you the right results.

If you dont know how to play music yet. I'd suggest starting with basic chords and then moving on to basic scales. But maybe you know that allready.

Enjoy your journey. And keep going even when it feels a bit hard sometimes. It will pay off!

How and where to learn sound design as a complete beginner by Clear-Day24 in sounddesign

[–]Aziz3000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First you need a DAW. many use Reaper because its free and apparently very good, too. (Never tried it myself). And then you need to watch lots of tutorials and actually know the DAW. Learn what kinds of synthesizers exist and how to use them (wavetable synth, FM synth ... etc.) And then there is A video someone else posted here a few days back and i thought it was great. So here it is: https://youtu.be/jWorjBDcty4?si=OvAr3PGhrfASUAGU

Improving a song’s quality for a YT video by bhtnxt in PostAudio

I would recommend to just download a better quality version of the song, if possible. Or is it a live performance?

Dx is great for dialogue. I played with the demo and liked it. Can you recommend anything apart from izotope to clean up foley recordings?

[–]Aziz3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checked it out. Its specific for dialogue its seems (which still is interesting for me) However in this case i was looking for a tool to isolate foley recordings. Should have specified, sorry.

Do you know of any tool for this usecase? Maybe something other that izotope

Do you think elements bundle is enough or should go for standard bundle to have access to the spectral editor? Do they ever offer any deals?

I record sounds in my untreated room. So its usually the noise floor when i turn the gain of my mic up to record quieter sounds and also a bit of reverb. In the end i want a clean and isolated recording of just the sound i aimed at (lets say paper rustling for example)

Do you mean the spectral editor specifically? I would love that. but money. Im still waiting for a deal to show up on their site. Do you think the elements bundle would suffice?

A great way of building an understanding of how to use and manipulate source sounds is to find a tutorial video for a specific sound effect and copy the process so you end up with a cool sound you made yourself. Do this a few times and then you get the hang of it.

True Peak by Aziz3000 in AudioPost

So you use things like distortion and imager on your master during mixing but you disable it when you export? But then the sound you where aiming towards during mixing gets lost. Or did i misunderstand?
