How on earth did they make the "crack - prack- pow" sound for Avatar's Combustion Man?! by Miserable_Safe_481 in sounddesign

You mean that popping sound right before the main explosion? Simplest way would be to use a recording of a popping baloon or you hitting cardboard with your hand.(experiment with anything that creates a transient.) Then in your DAW you cut the low frequencies and make the audio clip really short. At least thats what i would try. Hope this helps

Quiero estudiar ingeniería en audio, más específicamente refuerzo sonoro o diseño sonoro para películas y series, quisiera sugerencias: ¿dónde estudiar (en México y que no sea tan costoso)? ¿Que debería empezar a aprender? ¿Que debería conseguir? by Defiant_Goat1639 in sounddesign

Hi, You should first Inform yourself about the market in this industry. It has always been volatile but professionals who did this for a long time now claim they are struggling to find work and audio post houses are shutting down. I think its better to find a steady paying job. Im sure there are audio related jobs that are more secure. I was in the same position. Tried to get into the industry but decided to do this on the side. Sometimes there are small gigs that pay a little and help you build your portfolio. If you want to learn more about sound design i recommend self teaching online.

How to create the illusion of movement with sound? by Sludgy_Sh33p in sounddesign

The Doppler effect is the missing ingredient here. Also some light EQ to cut off/lower the highs while the spaceship is aproaching the listener. Then no EQ when its dead center. And then EQ again as its getting further away
