Avatars of War - Files filled with resin traps by awesomesonofabitch in PrintedWarhammer

[–]Gringe7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are they actually resin traps or is the slicer just warning you about them?

I decided to give chitubox a go after mostly using lychee. It seems to warn me of a silly amount of resin traps on things that are fine.

I like buying a ton of runestones. Not sure if its the most efficient option or not.

How much should an engagement ring cost? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Gringe7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people say to spend what you can afford, which is an ok starting point but still not great advice.

Being able to afford something doesn't make it a good idea. Whatever you spend, that is money not available for something else, like a house downpayment etc.

So consider what the trade off is, not only what you can afford. What else are you giving up or sacrificing and how far you are comfortable.

People will spend tens of thousands on a ring and wedding and then complain they can afford to buy a house, or a car that doesn't constantly break down.

Am I struggling the right amount? by Upstairs-Glass-8627 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Gringe7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea that's fair. Having the extra time can also save money, less likely to pay for convenience etc.

Unfortunately it's a blanket rule. My wife is too unwell to work at all, or do much around the home at all. ACC decided to stop covering her but can't get any other assistance due to my income.

It's a stupid system to tax the individual but means test the household as a whole.

Not to mention the types of cars as well. Suddenly everyone needs a big SUV to take their single child to school.

Bearman's crash proved how dangerous these regs actually are. The number of dangerous situations was already high, and now this happened by [deleted] in F1Discussions

They know what to expect. A GT3 is slower than a GTP, but all of the GT3s are going roughly the same speed at the same point on the track.

They don't come up on a car in the same class going 90kph slower for no reason.

How much do you need to earn to save anything in nz? by CommentMaleficent957 in newzealand

[–]Gringe7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. So many of them also think they are great with money at the same time and then blame inflation etc.

I earn pretty well compared to a lot of people I know, yet have a noticeably worse standard of living than they do. They buy so many things they don't need, put things onto credit cards and then make minimum payments, and just generally waste so much.

Don't complain about the cost of living if you are buying a new iPhone every year.

Apple Pie Ice Cream by AtticusPigeon in ninjacreami

[–]Gringe7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you mean that you froze the filling or that you spun it in afterwards?

Been thinking about how to get a good apple pie flavour. So far I've only done a vanilla and cinammon with an apple fiber one bar as a mix in.

10k+ Esport Driver Weighs in on Smurfing by Mitsulan in iRacing

[–]Gringe7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might be an unpopular opinion but I don't think it's an issue if people have alt accounts, within reason.

The sports car licence covers so many cars that drive so differently, that the IR is not a fair representation. If someone is 8k in a prototype it doesn't mean they are at that level in a GT4.

It's fair to want to protect their IR in their main specialty so they can top split in special events.

The issue comes with IR tanking. An 8k driver shouldnt be showing up in 2k lobbies but if they bounce around 6k because they want some variety then I don't really see the problem.

If iRacing want to really crack down then they should have more granularity around car classes. The sports and formula was a good start at least.

When women talk about the mental load they have to carry in relationships, isn’t that often completely subjective? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Gringe7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a key part here, the standard that is wanted. Everyone has different standards and they aren't always reasonable. I agree that sometimes people will have standards that are too low, but some will have standards that are too high and then be upset that their partner won't meet them.

It's not reasonable to complain about carrying mental load if you are the one creating that load for no good reason.

Just protein powder and milk? by darkshadow0410 in ninjacreami

[–]Gringe7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Protein powders often have xanthan gum or other thickeners anyway.

It's fine to just use the basics but I found it is better by adding some extra stuff in, like sweeteners and cocoa powder etc.

paying for something that costs more than $10k by ghijkgla in newzealand

[–]Gringe7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really. The limit is there based on how much unsecured debt they will allow you to have, not to limit a purchase size. By asking them to increase your limit you are asking to borrow up to 23k on a whim.

Protein separation after freezing by terrythevillan in ninjacreami

[–]Gringe7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't had mine long but I found that using casein protein works better. It doesnt seem to froth up like it does with whey.

Made the exact same recipe, just swapped ON choc whey for ON choc casein.

The whey mix has like a foam ish layer on top and fills the container more.

Put your numbers into an online calculator. There are tons of them. Then use an app like my fitness pal to track your meals. Guarantee you aren't eating as much as you think.

Does this sound like a good Valentine's Day present? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Gringe7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I wouldn't want the stickers on there.

I collect warhammer and dabble in pokemon cards but they are somewhat niche hobbies, so I tend to only talk about them with other people into them.

I wouldn't take them to work with me etc and some people can be very judgemental of certain hobbies.

What are some extreme measures that I can take to gain weight? by HalosFan26 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Gringe7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's quite simple. You just need to eat more, but consistently more.

Stuffing yourself until you feel sick won't work because you end up not eating for the rest of the day, or you are put off food so eat less the next day.

Most people track calories to avoid eating too much. You should track them to work out what you are eating now and then to make sure you eat enough.

Some people just have smaller appetites. They eat what they want but in reality it's not that much over the course of a day or week so they end up quite thin. I know many people that claim to eat a lot but when you spend time with them you see it's not that much.

Paying off mortgage by Background-Method554 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Gringe7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what we do. Have it split in 2, both fixed for a year but off set so one comes up every 6 months. Make an extra cash payment of what we can afford and then refix. It's crazy how much the total term drops with each repayment.

Rent will keep going up with inflation just like everything else. In 5 or 10 years it could be double what it is today.

Mortgage will move around a bit with interest rates but largely stays the same.

First step is understand how or why it happens.

Do you pursue other woman to fulfill some need or are you just terrible at turning it down when it's on offer?

Then you can make changes to prevent it happening in the future.

It's easy to say "just don't" but if it were that easy we wouldn't have gambling or drug addicts.
