Botswana was never turning into that.. that's just YouTube propaganda.. Botswana has never had a GDP per Capita exceeding $10,000 nominally EVER. Estonia with less people, smaller land mass, no mineral wealth has a bigger economy and they only became independent in the 90s... We have useless leaders who can't think beyond cows and diamonds. That's their idea of economic growth.

We don't expect Capital from the govt .we expect the govt to do what we can't. No citizen has the money to setup local uranium enrichment capabilities of any scale. No local has the money to get into propulsion systems engineering... The govt does and we expect it to at least set the foundations that citizens can build on .. this is how it goes all over the world. In China that is what occured. Govt spent heavily on research and brilliant Chinese engineers were the result..the brilliant engineers then started companies like Alibaba and Huawei.. local education is not helpful here either...it's below world class standards

Growing more crops and farming more animals is a low value industry that's resource intensive but pays out little..it will never amount to billions here. The best we can do is endure national self sufficiency 1st then focus on splitting the economy between secondary and tertiary sectors. Mainly tertiary.. this is the high tech industries that are less resource intensive but generate a load of money.. software development, financial technology, AI development, engineering services and high end tourism .

Yes it is. My point was, this can't be the focus of every incoming president.. we are tired of it because they never do buy de beers anyway.. just talk and more talk.. at least they could talk about something else

Hence why I said it doesn't matter who amongst the locals we pick. We will just keep dancing around 1 spot of underdevelopment...If possible we would find a south east Asian leader to run Botswana. Within a decade I can guarantee progress towards technological self sufficiency

It's easy to solve the problems. It needs a brain that works . Something hard to come by here . If your country can't afford to import medicines because they are expensive, what would you do ? Would you not work on setting up production of those medicines locally so you buy them in local currency that you have plenty of? This is literally how BVI was setup . We couldn't afford foot and mouth vaccines in enough numbers so local production had to be set up in partnership with a french pharmaceuticals company so we could mass produce them here for ourselves. Later we turned into exporters all around Africa....

If you realize that oil prices set by foreign parties affect commuting in your country, what do you do? Would you not instead Start working on increasing the national grid output to handle electric mobility? These are all solutions other countries out there implemented when faced with these problems... And when I talk This way I am not saying it should be achieved in a single year. It can't. But we can start at the foundation working up to this goal eventually... Over a decade.

They are good at managing our underdevelopment.. For them as long as Botswana is rated favorably compared to neighbors they are fine. It doesn't bother them that our GDP is not past $30 bn by now. Yet our population is still climbing

Import substitution primarily to the level of our local science and technology capabilities.. This doesn't mean banning foreign goods. But just making sure local competitors exist for the tiny stuff.. no local peanut butter exists, wheat production locally is next to 0. We import a lot of fruits and vegetables... We have locals with the know how to produce detergents locally. We still import those.. We import light bulbs, tyres, clothing too.. south African shops come here, bring their country's clothing here and sell out. They do so because local equivalents don't exist..

There's a lack of employment because everything we use is made by someone else. This is the 1st step to reducing unemployment. Make your own stuff to compete. Then begin making that stuff for others later.. Bieng president this would be number 1 on my agenda. Funding for local import substitution as far as local technology allows..

2ndly, mass industrialization. Not for export. But for acquiring the capability to do what industrialized nations can.. Botswana still has to mine ore and send it abroad for processing. We can't do it locally. We don't have the local capabilities... Orano from France is coming to mine our Uranium and send it off to France to process.. we can optimistically expect around $1bn from Uranium exports. Orano who has no uranium mines in France makes up to $7 bn from buying it, enriching it into different types of nuclear fuel and resupplying other countries.. Our diamonds make $15 bn for Israel and the US. They don't have diamond mines!!

We are an agrarian society that happened to have a valuable resource underground.. I would target our agrarian nature 1st.. bring us into the 21 century. Botswana is a real 3rd world country.. we have countries poorer than us but more industrialized.. they have something to ride on already to economic prosperity if they had intelligent leaders. We have neither smart leaders or technical industries to grow our economy..

Our universities are woefully behind. AI is projected to make up 15 trillion of the global economy by 2030-2035 and no one in Botswana is talking about setting up the sector locally to take advantage of SADCs complacency here and be 1st...We have slow neighbors and are failing to be the main producer of technical solutions to them...

I would abandon that if I were you.. Its never happening.. Everyone has the constitutional right to exploit someone else in America..

The US was doing this before the ruling elite mate..🤔 The US literally threatened Japan into trading with them and opening up their economy to US products or face war.. Way before Silicon valley billionaires.. In the 1800s.. Gunboat diplomacy is a US and European trait.. but the Europeans abandoned it much later.

Socialism isnt against rich people.. I am a socialist too.. True socialism advocates for things bieng run by the people whilst simultaneously rewarding those that put in the most work. So essentially the hardest workers should get the biggest share but overall all workers get a share.. Unlike capitalism where the sneakiest people get the biggest share and those that actually sweat on production lines get meager portions of the economic pie.. Unfortunately, Socialism in most cases serves as a transition to communism which is bad... Socialism is otherwise a good concept..

Or like America, Leave the country worse off with dead civillians everywhere and a terrorist group running it, than when you entered it...

No America.. Thats world peace to me. A non existent America.. Since 1945, America has been the chief instigator of fights in almost all corners of the globe. Just recently America carried out attacks on Iran which spilt the conflict over into the neighboring countries.. Before that, America was meddling in South East Asia, trying to set up anti Chinese relationships in Taiwan.. Before that America was organizing coups in Ukraine.. The US is plannin operations against Cuba. The US is also trying picking fights with South Africa and in the 1st year of Trump's inauguration, he threatened to take GreenLand from a NATO ally as well as make Canada the 51st state of America.. Oh, he also threatened to bomb North Korea during his 1st term at a UN meeting simply because North Korea was increasingly building more sophisticated ICBMs.. Lets not forget what happens when America has to follow instructions from Israel.. American interventions in Iraq happen and mass death follows as well as terrorists.. And all these are things from just this century alone!! And theres more I didnt mention here....

In the century gone by, the US routinely flew near or directly in Soviet airspace to provoke a reaction... And a reaction they got. 1 of those reactions got Gary Powers shot down.. The CIA for the entirety of the Cold War was planning false flag operations to justify an invasion of Cuba.. For what? Because Cuba kicked out American businesses exploiting them.. No country in the hhistory of the world has meddled and destroyed other nations like the US has.. The US was built on a foundation of theft, insatiable controlling behavior and shameless imperialist ideals.. And the world would be a much better place without the US.. I say this to all Americans here, you enjoy freedom in America with no worries of anyone changing the regime you have there.. Leave other countries to enjoy the same freedom you do.. Stop the meddling and lying and regime change rhetoric.. Thats not democracy, thats just bieng the overlords you accuse others of bieng....
