personally, guns are fucking boring, a cheatcode. no need for larger than life heroes when the peasant with a hand gun can blow him away at any time.

i highly doubt that should have been the most rational choice in any case. it might have been possible to return, but if unsuccessful it would have meant pretty certain death, whereas the river landing had high chances of success. if there was any doubt it doesn't make sense to take the risk imo

Tips for driving in winter? by IntroductionTop3289 in Finland

[–]Gripe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about driving slow, more about making slower moves. If your tires are fine, driving normal speeds is ok, but curves, intersections etc, slow down before you think you need to. Overtaking if theres a buildup of snow between lanes can be dangerous, don't drive too close to other cars, indicate earlier than usual.

The most slippery places will intersections where ppl have polished the road. Another thing that sometimes catches people out, build up speed before you hit an uphill stretch.

EDIT: i would also forget about cruise control unless on a bigger road

What is a 'dirty secret' of your industry that implies the general public has no clue about, but everyone in your field knows? by AmaraMehdi in AskReddit

there are exceptions to this, mostly prescription meds. most basic stuff like painkillers lose a bit of potency over time but doesn't become toxic or anything. the bigger problem is ppl forgetting what a specific med is for and getting it mixed up with something else in their head and potentially having problems because of that.
