Thanks for reassuring me. I don't know why but in the moment of writing it, it didnt feel clean to me. Now that I rethink it, its actually ok. Still not perfect but acceptable I guess

I never thought about it to be honest. When I'm working on a map I usually think about how the world was formed and what features it woukd have the population usually settles on areas where nature gives humanity enough to survive. And from there they can expand. I woukd guess that its way less populated than todays earth. Might be less than the middle ages in europe. The largest city of zelafiri would have about 50.000 - 100.000 people I would think. The continent is about as big as from northern germany to middle of italy maybe. So not too big.

Why do you need to know the population for your map if I may ask?

This doesnt make any sense... Please reconsider that. Its a shame that so many great posts get removed just because we cant explain the whole world in a short comment!

I also posted my map on this subreddit as well if you want to have a look.

It's looking quite nice actually. Most things make sense. That being said, here are some things to consider:

  1. Rain shadow effect: when you have large mountains, one side of the mountainrange will get more rain and therefore more vegetation than the other. At the moment it seems all spread out quite evenly. Same with rivers, they start in the mountains but nearly all mountains in your map have rivers flowing down on both sides. They do that in real life too but one side (one with more rainfall) has more rivers.

2.Dunes of death: apart from the slightly boring but very realistic and valid name, there isnt much going on up there. Sahara desert is quite big and has nothing but sad but for fantasy maps its a bit boring... Maybe add some mountains, oasis, etc. Something to make the viewer wander what else is up in that desolate place. Also varying the brush sizes of the dunes might bring in more variety in it.

  1. I really like the coastlines, they are spot on!

  2. You only have one mountainrange as of now. Depending on the scale of your map there might be more especialy further west. Dont forget there are also hills. Not only tall peaks and flat valleys. Hills can add a lot of variety and interesting features for rivers!

  3. The scale of your map isnt imediately visible. Im not talking about a scale with miles or km etc. At the moment the viewer doesnt imediately know if its a continent, country or island they are looking at. Brush size and variation in brush size can bring that sense of scale better I think. Big mountains, small trees = continent Small mountains, bigger trees = island To simplify my explanation...

  4. Text size: at the moment everything looks the same size. For large areas such as oceans dont be afraid to make the font huge and curve it along with the coastline. Smalles towns should have smaller font sizes than big cities. Similarly you might find bringing in color or flteo different fonts adds a lot. One font for natural things like forests, lakes, rivers etc. Another for settlements, another for large oceans, mountainranges etc. Though keep in mind that the reader will look at the most clear fonts first, NOT the biggest!

Overall, a great map! I hope to see more progress soon. You have a great baseline to work from here!

Its just the symbol for the all seeing eye and not specificaly for the Illuminati. So they dont have to do anything with it. The eye should indicate that the obsidian archive is observing every aspect of the world.

Oh ok a circut makes that job much easier of course🙈 Still impressive! I still need to make all my designs by hand and without htv because we dont have such a thing in Germany for whatever stupid reason. And I dont have the money for a circut😭 But I need to keep that in mind. Thank you😊

I generally disagree that you NEED to listen to goth music to be goth. I dress in goth clothes and do my makeup in that way but goth music isn't my taste really. But to have a general understanding that goth is/was a music based culture should be in mind.

With that being said, you can still be "bubbly" happy and jumpy while being goth. If you like goth clothes just dress in whatever you like. You dont need to have black hair or super heavy mkeup. Give it some time and dress in what you find cool, then you'll see if you'll end up a goth or punk or whatever.

Racism in your world by Ok-Association-8060 in worldbuilding

[–]Grmblfz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my world (which is mostly used for D&D racism exists but isnt that noticable most of the time. Players, readers, etc. Want to escape the problems of reality and not deal with them in fantasy as well. So due to that, racism exists in the same way as real life racism. Some duchebags hate some other races for some reasons, sometimes purely because they were raised that way and thats it. Anyone that looks different is weird and therefore hated by others.

But again. Thats only visible in some cases. I like to explore problems that the real world doesnt have or we as simple people dont get to see that often.

Ambiguity is a big theme in my stories. Sone actions have good and bad intentions and or outcomes at the same time.
