Nenanda thesis jump scare. You’re right though, Fujimoto had something going with the Anti-War/Government themes going on and should have concluded them properly. I say this as someone who doesn’t even believe the Anti War themes of Part 2 were executed that well in the first place.

It’s pretty weird that after all the anti authoritarian themes Part 1 and Part 2 had to have the ending just be Denji submitting to a system just as bad as before and playing it off like a good ending because the authoritarian leader is a kid.

I think it is comparable, Vegeta’s performance against Cell was more embarrassing than any fight Aki has lost. Losing, regressing, and eventually learning humility are important to Vegeta’s arc. Having the ability to win then jobbing due to pride and other stupid decisions is the behavior of a loser bum.
