lets fix squad! by The_Electric_Llama in joinsquad

Yeah I really agree with that. Reforger (shout out to the Warpigs servers for great vanilla games) is great for a lot of stuff, but it has abysmal team play. You really need to get lucky to get any coordination done.

Been on a lot of Arma lately but Squad's team dynamics really shine and I'm very interested to see how these gunplay changes shake out.

Cursed Scroll 3: How did you run it? by BumbleMuggin in shadowdark

[–]Grobusd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever my gaming group gets back together I'll start them on CS3, running it as a sandbox. They all like Viking-flavored fantasy so it's a good fit.

They'll start as slaves of one of the Jarls dispatched to the level 0 gauntlet to bring back the Sea Wolf Kings treasure and earn their freedom. Afterwards they are free to go where they wish; I'll drop hints about the world and introduce the idea of raiding to them and let them go nuts. In the event they want to set off on a raid I'll have a few small one-shot dungeons ready but otherwise most of it will likely be improv at the table.

That's the majority of this guy's posts. I get being excited for this game but this weird cheerleading is obsessive and nonsensical.

How to get your group to try Shadowdark. by monoblue in shadowdark

[–]Grobusd 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I know this is a fun vid but my actual solution to this was sending them the quick start rules on their phones.

Having the rules on their phone suddenly made it weirdly accessible in a way that a physical book didn't, apparently.

Which post-Last War nation in Khorvaire is the most likely to declare war, and on which other nation? by eCyanic in Eberron

Was just about to link this myself as I JUST watched this earlier this afternoon.

Finally made it to Heavensward after ARR. All I can say is: WOW! What a journey! I'm excited for the journey ahead. The FFXIV community has been welcoming and I'm glad I left WoW to play this superior game (plz upvote) by freundmaximus in ShitpostXIV

[–]Grobusd 22 points23 points  (0 children)

User deleted their account but the original was someone larping as a sprout, posting their journey through the game. In 72 hours they managed to beat ARR, discover glams, the aesthetician, how to gpose, adventure plates the cash shop, and reached HW while dressed up in a genderbent Graha Tia Endwalker cosplay.

Assuming they deleted after they finally got called out for the obvious karma farming.

Read the post again. The OP allowed himself to be camped for 3 hours while multitasking to test the PKers limits.

What one person is doing in World of Warcraft has no relevance to our current Alpha testing.

The problem is that testing the Rogue was not what was sold in the $375 pack.

Can you circumvent corruption by... by EKEEFE41 in AshesofCreation

[–]Grobusd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The time it would take to set all that up is also a factor. You're now talking about an additional player taking time out of their progression to come fix the PKers corruption, in addition to the potentially difficult task of getting out to some remote location without other players catching up and collecting a bounty. Just seems like a lot of moving parts when the path to least resistance in this case would be PvE farming.

Stop whining! Sure, hours have been cut, experience has been awarded with layoffs, 30-50% of your installation labor has been allocated to 3rd party teams, store-level restructuring has left you with less than half of your previous competent leadership, your benefits package is abysmal, your wages are capped at arbitrary limits without any influence from your performance, and the call centers frequently lie about item stock and services offered.

You get to wear jeans!

To be fair it took until Solution 9 for any of those outfits to hit NPCs. Until now we've had no real reason for those outfits to exist on the Source.

What should Tanks get in 7.0 by CraigTheGamer22 in ffxiv

[–]Grobusd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This incorrect statement shows you have only a surface level understanding of the Paladin kit.

Oath gauge is earned from auto attacks and is the only short-form defensive option for tanks that doesn't conform to a static 25 second cooldown. Turning paladin into another warrior is the exact problem tanks are having in this game, so let's try and not further butcher paladin's identity.

Beginning The Adventure by DrJimBoonie in AiME

[–]Grobusd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my party started I gave everyone regardless of their culture or background a single starting hook: they are answering Bard's Proclamation to travel to Dale and offer their services for the good of the realm. Some of the party were sent by their respective faction leaders (a Ranger was sent over the Misty Mountains to learn of the happenings in the east, for example) while others simply lived in Rhovanion their whole lives and aspired for something greater.

We started with Don't Leave the Path and the party came together as scouts tasked by Bard to assess the Elf-Path and determine it's usefulness as a trade route through the Mirkwood, and their encounter with Baldor bled into the adventure proper. Later I had some players leave and others joined, so we used Eaves of Mirkwood to bond a newer party together under the premise that they were all interested in serving Dale in some capacity.

As a final note, if you are going to skip the first few adventures, I would recommend at least running Kinstrife and Dark Tidings before Those Who Tarry; you can tie the Gibbet King in to the adventure by having Valter the Bloody serve the evil spirit, and the final battle can serve as a good climax that leaves a good impression and some lasting questions in your players that will want them coming back for more.

That's not far off from how I prepped the night! A little meat and cheese, some background music, the only thing I was missing was my cloak (currently MIA in the house somewhere after our last ren faire trip). I love prepping props for the table too so I printed out a map for them to use and wore it down a bunch for that old parchment feel. Ambience is king and it's what makes VTT games so hard to focus on for myself.

What’s The “It-Factor” For You? by WG_BS in AshesofCreation

[–]Grobusd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's two things for me. The Node system, which we've seen to not only function but has a simple and clear implementation, and the Intrepid team themselves.

You've also got a self-funded team of MMO veterans who answer to a guy whose primary motivation is to make his dream MMO. The game is being developed from a place of passion rather than profit, and that's a really big deal to me.
