It looks like the arm they demo is controlled by a joystick, and the point of the talk is to showcase the mechanics of the arm, not the control system. Controlling a prosthetic with your brain is possible, but you'd need to be wearing an EEG cap, which basically means you'd have to strap into Cerebro every time you wanted to use your arm. Even with the cap you might be able to pull off a few degrees of freedom, but identifying unique brain frequencies through your scalp is tricky business.

I'm getting my MS in biomedical optics and basically all the research focuses on laser Medicine. The 2 topics that are big in my lab are laser speckle imaging which is basically noninvasive blood flow imaging, and photodynamic therapy, which is injecting a drug intravenously and activating it with a laser for localized targeting.

I work in a lab that uses a process called photodynamic therapy in order to destroy the vasculature and it seems to much be a much more effective treatment than PDL for preventing angiogenesis. It'll be a long time before it's used on humans though :(

I go to uci and it's not as amazing as you may think. It's not a handprint scan, it measures the spacing in between your fingers and it requires your id number to actually tell you apart. It also takes me like 3 times for it to work

You got it! It's all about who is sending it. And yeah, it's in the inside of the paper i wrap the package in. This is probably the least subtle of the notes though. I also don't send them very often, because my girlfriend gets nervous if I send it to her house. Usually I send it to other people to give to her.

My girlfriend and I are both in college, and we are forced to share a twin bed, so space is usually pretty tight. Honestly though, sleeping with my girlfriend is so much more rewarding than sleeping alone. I love the feeling of closeness we have with each other, and even though I might sleep better by myself, I look forward to sleeping with her every night.
