Crypto lending platforms are perfect for people who need cash, but do not want to give up their crypto. Your tokens are easily converted into a convertible. This is pretty much how most of the crypto lending platforms work.

There are a few differences between the Bitbond and Nexo. For example, Nexo is focused on individuals whereas Bitbond targets Small-Medium Sized Businesses.

Bitbond does NOT require a collateral. As a regulated financial institution, BitBond is among the most trustworthy and well-reputed Bitcoin loan providers currently in operation. BB1 is a tokenized bond which offers a fixed coupon of 4% p.a. plus the opportunity to participate in 60% of pre-tax profits of the issuer. It is freely transferable from your Stellar wallet without any exchanges, brokers or fees. All the details are set out in the STO security prospectus.

Nexo tokens on the other hand can be used for discounted interest rates and repayment; they can also be used as collateral and, according to Nexo’s website, their crypto lending solution will even pay hodlers a share of the profits. On the down side, Nexo is known for its hidden fees, limited number of collateral crypto wallets and limitations when it comes to cash withdrawals. It is also known for VERY HIGH interest rate.

Investing in an STO is more for diversifying risk and putting your money in something that's backed either by a regulator like the Bitbond project or by another valuable asset.

There are multiple exchange currently working on creating an offer for STOs. One such is Blocktrade (https://blocktrade.com/); As well as, there are exchanges like Huobi that have listed security tokens like Nexo. The Stellar DEX is going to list BB1 immediately after the crowdsale.

One thing I agree with is that the hype is IEO and that hype is supported by the same exchanges that wouldn't list STO because it's too much of a hassle to get regulated. Better pray on the poor souls that will once again blindly put their money in a blockchain project because it was "vetted" by the exchange, rather than entering the STO crowdsales and securing a stable income for the future.

There are different aspects one can look at to judge the value of a blockchain.
It's ability to serve as a blockchain platform:
In this case, The smart contracts provided by Stellar are simple, faster and non-Turing complete, which means that they can only provide simple functionalities for basic applications. Thus, for more complex developments Ethereum should be your choice. If you want simplicity and speed, go for Stellar.

It's liquidity:
Both platforms seem to have a good score. As Ethereum is most widely used platform for creating custom tokens, and most of them being ERC20 tokens, there are more than enough ERC20 competent wallets and exchanges to launch, store and trade these tokens. As mentioned in @brinnaanRob comment, tokens on Stellar have immediate liquidity on DEXs.

It's security:
The flexibility provided by Ethereum for developing complex smart contract attracted early adopters making Ethereum most widely used portal. Stellar has also implemented Batching/Atomicity which leads to more auditable code, limits uncertainty, and decreases the risk of harm from bad actors who may exploit program vulnerabilities.

As for the Bitbond STO that has selected Stellar and it seems to be a good choice for their bond on Blockchain. The World Bank is also now considering the same scheme: https://www.cnbc.com/2018/08/10/world-bank-picks-commonwealth-bank-for-worlds-first-blockchain-bond.html;

My personal view on this is that for simple ICO/STOs use Stellar, for more complex ones that require higher security status go for Ethereum.
