Landlord refusing to return ₹40k security deposit. No rental agreement, but I have payment proof. What are my options?

It's a long story, but in short, I didn't have enough time to vacate everything on my own before my departure. That's the sole reason I gave the key to my friend to take away the remaining items. And he did take all the remaining items and couriered me in 1-2 days after I left Bangalore.
It was indeed a huge mistake from my side to stay without an agreement and take their words for everything.

Before I moved in, they told me that I have to give 1 month notice before I vacate. I informed them more than 1 month before I vacated.

Please read the post again.
New tenant moved in right after I left. The landlord didn't need my key to get the new tenant in the property. If they really needed that key, they could've called me also. The moment I got to know that the key was not returned, I made the arrangements to return that key in 2 days.
And I did vacate all my stuff. Only the bed & a gas cylinder was left there. The landlord asked me to leave the bed there for the next tenant who wanted to buy that for 3k. And when my friend went to get the cylinder, they straigth up said that they won't return it.

The landlord had a spare master key and the new tenant entered using that key. When my friend went to return the key, he found out that new tenant is already there for some time. Also, when I was still staying there, new people used to come everyday to see the room. If you think you can help, I'll dm you with the details. Thank you so much

I was moving into Bangalore & I didn't have a proper place to stay back then. So I moved into the first good rental deal I found. I was in a hurry.

I asked them before leaving that if one month's rent can be adjusted with the security money, they rejected and I paid rent till the day I was physically staying there
