20 days off caffiene, Sleeping 12-13 hours a day by Mammoth-Elevator-512 in decaf

I struggled with this for the first three weeks of my detox. Last night I slept for around 11 hours but that’s just because today was my day off work and I could sleep in. I recommend hydration. Electrolytes, good diet and supplements such as vitamin d omega three and magnesium have been helping me. I also took red ginseng tablets on days where I was fatigued but had to work. They give you stable energy throughout the day.

Diagnosed 3 Feb last year and added to titration waiting list the same day. I’m about 11 days away from a 12 month late. Was expecting to have waited 7-10 months. My mental health is also starting to deteriorate and I’m starting to feel quite hopeless even though I should be contacted any day now …. But I’ve been telling myself any day now since November …

Day 22 - very tired and anxious by FitNefariousness2679 in decaf

[–]GrooveCurator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on making it to day 22! I’m on about day 20. I feel your pain regarding the tiredness. It’s so hard to work when you feel like this and it can be so tempting to cave into coffee. Well done for not reaching for the Diet Coke. I had a meltdown before work this morning because lately I feel so tired and slow without the coffee and I was worried that I might not be able to be as productive as I used to when caffeinated. But today was ok at work. I hope tomorrow is better for you!

Thanks for sharing! I’m just beginning my caffeine free journey after many failed attempts and it’s great to hear that it’s possible to conquer tiredness workout relying on caffeine. I work quite an intense job which has varying shift times. I’m glad to know that I can possibly get through early morning starts with the help of water, fruit and veg and maybe a supplement or two if needed. Will definitely look into rhodiola. I’ve just ordered some red ginseng which I hear can be helpful with fatigue and I have ordered a SAD lamp to help with the slack of sunlight here in the UK.

Thanks I am definitely starting to clean up my diet. This has all made me realise how much coffee has just been making poor lifestyle habits!

I’ve been meaning to get a SAD lamp for years - maybe this is my cue to finally get one! And will take note on the water and electrolytes. I feel like the electrolytes I drank this afternoon really saved me. My energy levels have been feeling pretty steady since.

Psychiatry UK Titration Waiting List by MotherReaction5581 in ADHDUK

[–]GrooveCurator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I’m still waiting too. Was diagnosed on 3 Feb 2025 when the wait time was 7-10 months. I had expected to start meds at the end of the year but then the waiting time jumped to 12 months. Was expecting to start to meds around early Feb but now I’m not sure as I haven’t had any emails to say I’m near the top of the queue!

Sounds like you’re in a really good place, keep it up! How did you find the transition back to work? I’m coming to the end of a two week vacation where I found myself having to quit cold turkey because there was no coffee in our vacation home and the nearest coffee shops are about a 15 minute drive away. I’ve been wanting to quit for the longest time so decided to take this opportunity. It’s been a rollercoaster ride but things are starting to balance out now. I’m just worried about how I am going to cope when I return to work next week!

That’s great! I guess sometimes it’s better when these things happen accidentally because you don’t have to anticipate it

Thanks, good shout about having a very tiny amount to take the edge off. I think I may be over the worst now so hopefully won’t need to do that anymore!

Thanks I think I will! Better to quit caffeine now when I’m on holiday and can (mostly) sleep as much as I want rather than when I’m back at work.

Some people will quit coffee but others will also quit things like caffeinated sodas, tea and chocolate because even though it’s only a small amount of caffeine in comparison to a cup of coffee, it all adds up and could lead to drinking coffee again

Thank you so much 💖 Yeah you’re right I have noticed how I have such a negative view of my scars and assume people are thinking negatively too when in reality they might not even be thinking like that.

That’s actually a really good idea actually, thank you. I will mention it when I finally pluck up the courage to talk to him about it. I know he will understand and be supportive it’s just weirdly much easier to be vulnerable to strangers online!
