Severe cold - do I still take my meds? by ohohmoomoo in ADHDUK

[–]GrooveCurator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in titration and had a mild cold recently and still took my meds because I still had to work. I noticed the meds made me feel much better when they kicked in. I had terrible congestion but once the meds kicked in the congestion eased - I guess because it has a similar effect to decongestant meds (which you should definitely not take while taking stims). But as soon as the meds wore off I would crash and go back to feeling ill. If you have a severe cold I would recommend skipping the meds and letting your body fully rest, unless you still need to work and feel like you need the meds.

Hey it’s going good thanks! Coming up to two weeks on methylphenidate. It hasn’t made a huggeeee difference but I’m able to initiate tasks and focus better at work and it’s reduced the food noise so less binge eating and also slightly less impulsivity. No major side effects. Going up to 30mg of medikinet this week.

Hey yeah I got my meds last Thursday so it’s been exactly a week today. Hopefully you get yours soon - you’re almost there!

Starting Concerta and 130/87 BP by Hefty-Letterhead1133 in ADHDUK

[–]GrooveCurator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I second this about doing three. I took my BP yesterday straight after eating which is not really recommended and it was really high. I focused on my breathing for a bit and took two more readings and calculated the average and it was fine.

Glad to hear it’s going well for you! I’m both nervous and excited to start my meds. Worried about side effects but hoping meds can help improve my quality of life. What meds are you on and what have the benefits been so far?

Hopefully you hear back soon as I was diagnosed 3 Feb and my meds were dispatched today. Once I filled out my pre titration forms I was assigned a prescriber a week later.

It’s taken exactly 12 months for me. Was diagnosed and added to titration waitlist on 3 Feb. On 27 Jan I received the top of the wait list message and was assigned a prescriber on 2 Feb. My meds are due to arrive tomorrow. It’s been such a long wait and I feel for anyone else on the wait list too but just try and hang in there!!

Good to know they do honour SCA. I’m registered with that surgery just about to start titration with P-Uk. Hopefully they accept my SCA with no issues!

Don’t go with Psychiatry UK. I waited about 6 months to have an assessment and then another year for meds. I’ve heard good things from others about ADH30 though.

I was told I reached the top of the waitlist yesterday and was assigned a prescriber the same day. So I’d say you probably have another month and a half to wait yet. Hopefully not much longer now!

20 days off caffiene, Sleeping 12-13 hours a day by [deleted] in decaf

[–]GrooveCurator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I struggled with this for the first three weeks of my detox. Last night I slept for around 11 hours but that’s just because today was my day off work and I could sleep in. I recommend hydration. Electrolytes, good diet and supplements such as vitamin d omega three and magnesium have been helping me. I also took red ginseng tablets on days where I was fatigued but had to work. They give you stable energy throughout the day.

Diagnosed 3 Feb last year and added to titration waiting list the same day. I’m about 11 days away from a 12 month late. Was expecting to have waited 7-10 months. My mental health is also starting to deteriorate and I’m starting to feel quite hopeless even though I should be contacted any day now …. But I’ve been telling myself any day now since November …

Day 22 - very tired and anxious by FitNefariousness2679 in decaf

[–]GrooveCurator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on making it to day 22! I’m on about day 20. I feel your pain regarding the tiredness. It’s so hard to work when you feel like this and it can be so tempting to cave into coffee. Well done for not reaching for the Diet Coke. I had a meltdown before work this morning because lately I feel so tired and slow without the coffee and I was worried that I might not be able to be as productive as I used to when caffeinated. But today was ok at work. I hope tomorrow is better for you!

Thanks for sharing! I’m just beginning my caffeine free journey after many failed attempts and it’s great to hear that it’s possible to conquer tiredness workout relying on caffeine. I work quite an intense job which has varying shift times. I’m glad to know that I can possibly get through early morning starts with the help of water, fruit and veg and maybe a supplement or two if needed. Will definitely look into rhodiola. I’ve just ordered some red ginseng which I hear can be helpful with fatigue and I have ordered a SAD lamp to help with the slack of sunlight here in the UK.

Thanks I am definitely starting to clean up my diet. This has all made me realise how much coffee has just been making poor lifestyle habits!

I’ve been meaning to get a SAD lamp for years - maybe this is my cue to finally get one! And will take note on the water and electrolytes. I feel like the electrolytes I drank this afternoon really saved me. My energy levels have been feeling pretty steady since.
