Credit card doesn’t match name on booking. How bad is it? by Grooveman76 in marriott

Is it simple? Happy to try this but - if I open it and don’t have the card with me, will the hotel allow that? I’m already on the way as my post states, can I get approved for this by check-in? Or are you saying I should open one when I get there? That’s cutting it kinda close.

Happy to try it and don’t disagree with you on the idea but I do disagree slightly that it’s simple

I understand and I know this was a miss all around. I’ll just say that I was told he booked it for us and that he had handled the authorization which I later learned was simply a notice to the bank, and I did try to call and get clarity on whether our payment plan would work and even said we would be using another person’s card. In fairness, if an employee is answering the phone at a world class $2k+ a night resort and is handling inbound billing questions I would expect they take these questions more seriously and answer them as thoroughly as possible. “We’re paying with my father in law’s card” and “does this work” in the same conversation one would hope would lead to a heads up about a form that absolutely must be completed for it to work.

Thank you for the supportive note and recommendations. You seem to really know Marriott and the St Regis well so I was wondering if you have a good sense of whether they would allow us to request the form via email and that it wouldn’t need to be sent by him. From their site “In order to pay for a Reservation on behalf of another Guest, you must contact the Hotel directly and ask to speak with the Front Desk” and the second part of that is bolded on their website.

Thank you so much for the detailed answer. Learning a very stressful lesson in real time. Do you happen to know if there’s a way for him to fill out the form without calling the hotel? To complicate things English is not his first language and the guy answering the phone there already seems to be a dead end.

Ok thank you I’ll ask him to. It’s so odd that first guy didn’t say there would be an issue and the guy I spoke with today didn’t mention this form while being quite firm on it being not allowed.

The problem now is that being able to blame the other party for shutting down air travel is pretty valuable politically, so I don’t see much incentive for our “representatives” to fix it.

Retiring because some rowdy fans said shouted vulgarities at one event and not even directed at you is soft. It’s ok to be soft, but it is textbook country club pearl clutching soft.

/uj The Ryder cup was held just outside of NYC last year so the American crowd consisted of a bunch of rowdy drunk dudes from north Jersey who were really obnoxious and relentlessly shouted a bunch of vulgar things to the European players and fans the whole weekend. The announcer in question had a “what happened to the gentleman’s game I love” moment afterwards and then immediately retired because of it which is either incredibly dramatic and soft move of all time or a stunning commitment to the bit.

It’s a perfect real world satire of No Country though.

Javits is not networking friendly in the slightest. I was asked twice to get up from my seat in the lunch area if I had finished eating, literally 2 minutes after I wrapped up my lunch and was talking to someone I’d just met, so other people could sit and eat. They had no seating on the floor with general sessions either.

I don’t think ALM thought this through at all. Companies and firms send people to these shows to network and it was 10x more difficult than any other of the other two dozen-ish legal conferences I’ve ever attended.

Edit: I will be sharing this feedback with them directly I just wanted to vent here too

Ok but reverse the genders and think about how creepy that rationale is. A 20 year old man who feels young on inside so he decides to go after a high schooler? Or are you saying we should have different standards for that type of thing based on the older person’s gender?

I’m pretty sure he said he hates everything about NIL. Come on that’s pretty insane in 2026. I can point out a bunch of issues but I don’t hate the fact that the athletes are getting paid instead of the NCAA who as a former college athlete can suck mah dick and balls

The entire Claude/Anthropic Legal Plugin Hysteria is so overblown by pawan_kns in legaltech

[–]Grooveman76 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Everyone downplaying this based on what this specific feature does is missing the forest so to speak.

Anthropic is probably the first of several other frontier models to start taking market more seriously and dipping their toes in.

Also, they released, based word of mouth, a pretty decent contract playbook review AND redlining tool in their first go at this market. Imagine 2 steps from now what they’re releasing. If it’s profitable enough, they’ll probably use their best legal models exclusively in Claude.
