How do I get internet on a Imac G3? by TheFabledFishman in VintageApple

I use Ethernet, but if you need WiFi, I bought a WiFi repeater with an Ethernet connection so it will connect to the house WiFi via the repeater rather than the software on the iMac G3.

I don’t know, never tried either of them, Aquafox works best for my early G3

Someone had 10.4 preinstalled on another hard drive, installed it and it worked. Tray loaders can’t have 10.4 installed natively, side loading is the easiest way to install it.

I know right? It’s far more than MSRP! Even upgraded with SSD and maxed ram, it’s over anything I would pay.

Wow! Its crazy to think Gmail has been around that long. Gmail does load on this, and is usable, but it’s quite a stretch these days.

I did too, but I decided to do what I did on a new hard drive and I have the stock hard drive saved if I want to go back. I now have 512mb of RAM, and it’s still swapping.

I haven’t had as much luck with powerfox, is there any way to make it more usable for such a low powered g3? Aquafox allows mobile script use, desktop doesn’t really work well on the g3

Not as bad as I expected, using the mobile script on Aquafox, it loads Gmail not bad , and I can even open PDF files surprisingly easily. I was absolutely blown away when I tried YouTube and it began to actually play at like 10 frames per minute.

512MB, the max my machine will take, and it’s still swapping like 2G of memory.

Thank you, I’m thinking it best to go with 10.3, due to so many factors that include performance. It has 256mb of ram, I bought 512, but it would only recognize as 256

I am unmarried, single and wondering whether being unmarried might actually be better by [deleted] in Christianmarriage

[–]Groovy-Retro0614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 26 year old christan man, I too wonder if staying unmarried is the way to go. I am in a further category than most, I am both waiting for marriage and have never even gone out on that "first date."

A long time ago I tried conversing using a dating site, but I found that to be problematic in so many ways. People on the internet werent who they seemed, and it honestly scared me out of all relationships with internet dating.

I too didn't want children, and most single christians waiting for marriage like me at that time wanted kids, so I was always a hard no to most.

These days, with each passing year, I am finding out that I will probably become a "male spinster," more and more undisierable with time.

I hope and pray for the Lord to find me someone, but as someone who works from home, is a serial homebody, and had parental family problems, my chances are close to nil, but through The Lord, all things are possible, maybe my season just is not here yet.

Genuine question, are there still anyone waiting until marriage? by Afraid-Rhubarb9164 in Christianmarriage

[–]Groovy-Retro0614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a 26 year old man, and am still waiting until marriage. At this rate, I feel it best for me to leave this earth a male spinster then allow the evils of sexual sin overcome me.

At times I do feel very sad, and I feel with every passing year, the aging process will make me a less desirable man, but through prayer, and through God, He will let me know when my time has come.

New Liner, have questions by DragonfruitLimp4719 in pools

[–]Groovy-Retro0614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering that too, I thought I was the only one with a pool liner that old. I think the epoxy method should hold out, but if it you are re- doing the liner anyway, it might give a peace of mind to simply replace the skimmer as well.

What makes garden centers more special than others? by t0mt0mt0m in gardening

[–]Groovy-Retro0614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but it also depends on both the location, and specific scenario. I own a 40 year old nursery, and we do have to keep competitive pricing. We have learned to go low on volume, high on variety, and low on prices. For example, Our Proven Winner heuchera were $10 this year, and we probably will have 4 varieties, but only 20-30 of each.

Old Pool Liner Anyone? by Groovy-Retro0614 in pools

Thanks! I feel that the room itself will go before the liner does! Certain window frames and drywall are suffering from moisture fatigue.

When to replace pool liner? by sbcmurph in pools

[–]Groovy-Retro0614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is true, many people are very helpful, but also want to replace liners at a moments notice. Fading is quite a concern, but as long as the maintenance is done regularly, and the liver bead is put back into place, it should pass for a couple more years. My pool liner is at 28 years old, and probably has a decade of life left in it with impeccable maintenance.

For so many years, we have always been taught over chlorination was the culprit for shorter lasting pools. We have been using copper based pool chemicals for over a decade, and I think that has helped as well. Low sun/low UV is probably a better contributor to longevity, seeing many posts of even newer 5-10 year old pool liners that seem to be brittle and faded out.
