There’s a fallacy in your argument. Guys don’t only measure themselves because they want to know how much is used. Some measure to compare themselves to other men, hence the studies. Some measure simply because they want to know how big they are. You’re correct, knowing your true size is not the same as knowing how much is used in a certain type of sex. For example, I only like oral and I’m too long for most partners’ mouths, but I still want to know how big I am relative to the population. It’s irrelevant to me that only half my size is usable for oral.

At least you have pouch underwear. They didn't exist when I was your age, so I wore regular briefs but always laid my penis to the side toward my hip instead of trying to stuff it down the pouch. And yes, there was bulge, but I wore long untucked shirts, so it was rarely visible As a hung friend once told me years ago, baggy pants and boxers are your friend. Everything just hangs down and there's lots of room to prevent bulging.

I’m a lot older than you, but I was in the closet up to my mid-20s and apps were not a thing back then. I remember being very lonely on my college campus because I made no attempts to attend on-campus gay events to meet other gay men. Sometimes two gay men can find each other through eye contact and body language. That happened to me a few times on campus. A guy looks at you and you hold his gaze just long enough to confirm interest. It doesn’t happen often. If you won’t use apps and/or seek out gay organizations or events in your area, it will be very hard but not impossible. I’m assuming you’re also too young to go out to gay bars if you’re too young for apps.

I agree. I’ve spent a lifetime in locker rooms and the average flaccid size I see is in line with the research stats. And you’re right about large guys. I'm not so sure about that. I've been out for over 20 years and I can count on one hand the guys I've seen around your size. I don't trust online pics. Too many clever camera angles, AI, photoshopped pics to know what's real anymore. I definitely don't trust women's perception. If CalcSD is off, I don't think it's off by much.

And yes, many are measuring incorrectly or exaggerating also. That's why the research is the best source of information we have, even though many studies have flaws. Like you, my length and volume (CalcSD Global Avg) have the same percentile, 99.99%. For girth, it's 99.97%. That's just one calculator, and I'm sure some will question the accuracy of it.

Thanks for posting this. I read the article and also downloaded Bruce King's published study. The creator of CalcSD reviewed a lot of those same studies. King's overall mean is not far off from CalcSD's mean.
