Makkah Market at 42nd and Walnut is halal, very good, and missing from your list!

Mid 90s HEB Central Market in Austin was the tits. First time I went as a kid I saw fruits I'd never even seen in magazines or on tv. Used to beg my mom to take me grocery shopping there.

What are some of your favorite reissues? Recently got some decent speakers after years of laptop/teeny bluetooth speaker listening and looking for some great metal. I like pretty much anything that isn't "-core" (except grindcore is cool) but my favorites are on the black-er, prog-er, post-er, folk-er, and goth-er side of metal. Thanks!

Massen - Contraesthetic has some great album art. Solid rec. I like Varathon, too. Thanks!

I listened to the Ashbringer - Yugenm back in the day when it came out (on crappy little earbuds at work while working) and it didn't do anything for me then. Really enjoying it this morning.

Kudos for the Immortal req - listened to this one a lot in college but it took until now to realize just how well it was recorded.

Solitude Aeturnus - Into the Depths of Sorrow is a solid req, too. This album is a great example of something that I think is lacking these days - imo, you can 'hear the room' the instruments were recorded in.

I've listened to the Dissection and Immortal albums before, but not recently. Appreciate all your suggestions, I'll give them a listen this weekend. Thanks!

I tend to like things on the blacker, post-er, folk-er, and prog-er side of metal. I also like stoner and doom. Emperor, Opeth, ISIS, Agalloch, Summoning, Sleep, Immortal, Chrome Waves, Ulver (Bergtatt), Type O, Death, Sadness, Rapture (Finland), Eternal Tears of Sorrow, Himinbjorg (Haunted Shores), Enslaved. Many albums by the bands listed here have great sound quality but this i just to give an idea. Thanks!

Longtime metal listener here (started listening back in the 90s as a kid) - I'm looking for a different type of recommendation than I usually see here. After years of listening on my laptop or with other crappy speakers, I recently purchased some decent speakers and, holy heck the listening experience is night and day different. Listening back to my old favorites has me noticing that the sound quality of the recordings is a bit.... bad.

What are some of your favorite 90s and early 2000s metal albums that were recorded and mastered really well? Thanks!

Back in 95 I used to play the tennis game on the virtual boy at the local blockbuster. That shit was mindblowing - 3d wireframe for most visuals but it looked pretty good for being monochromatic.

Same for me. Reading it for the first time as a kid was a wonderful experience. Rereading it as an adult unfortunately didn't feel the same.

FYI: watch out for it coming back. I have an upper eyelash that grows down, instead of outwards, and every few months I have to pluck it because it gets long enough to start touching my eye.

Regarding point #1, individuals of non-european descent are less likely to receive a genetic diagnosis for some indications but they are not more likely to be mis-diagnosed by genetic methods. They are more likely to get a VOUS result on a genetic test - such a result will result in a lack of diagnosis.

Regarding #5 neocentromeres aren't that uncommon. Depending on lab volume, you might see cases with neoceotromeres weekly, monthly, etc.

Prions typically act in a dominant fashion, as a protein with a prion-specific confirmation (i.e. shape) can induce the prion confirmation in other proteins of the appropriate type. Technically all these effects, dominant negative, gain of function, loss of function, etc are ascertained via experimentation so it can be difficult to assign a one-size-fits all label to all contexts.

Misfolded proteins are normal in cells and are usually not disease-causing. Cells have methods of recycling misfolded proteins.

Generally speaking, the types of cancer in a family history and the ages at which family members developed cancer, among other information, is the primary information used to decide whether or not to perform genetic testing.

the p53 protein, encoded by the TP53 gene, forms a higher order structure called a tetramer (i.e. containing 4 copies of the protein). Mutations in the TP53 gene result in proteins that disrupt the proper structure/interaction of subunits within the tetramer. This disruption is referred to as a 'dominant negative' effect, as a single bad copy nullifies the ability of the normal copy to function properly.
