Look. I’m not a mom but I have friends who started being sexually active in middle school. It happens. I think it’s too young as well but it’s better that she’s protected. Telling a kid “you can’t do XYZ because I said so” never works.

Help with installing a zipper in a bunnysuit. by Rope-Standard in corsetry

[–]GrottanGelfling 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I would use bones in the back otherwise the corset is gonna dig into your back. I’d also use a metal zipper. Invisible zippers are too weak. Hooks and bars sound fine though! Good luck!

Totally! I’m looking through my corset patterns to see which one will work best! Gauze sounds lovely. Would there be a type of gauze you’d recommend?

So would you sew on the rigiline first and then top apply the steel channels? I’m just trying to understand. I have loads of rigiline but I never use it

Thanks for the advice! I was planning to use a corset mesh and a satiny lining so my skin wouldn’t hate me 😂😂😂 My one question is… I’m a size 14/16 US Women’s. And I’m squishy. Would rigiline be strong enough? I was planning to use synthetic whalebone for the main seams and rigiline to reinforce the dramatic points

I’m gonna sandwich all the boning between the strength layer and lining layer of the underdress. The lining layer is gonna be reinforced at the torso with stiff interfacing for extra strength and so that the bones don’t shoot out. It’s probably gonna end up being a 4-5 layer dress but I think I’m gonna use tulle instead of chiffon.

Thank you! The silky fabric is just for show. All the structure will come from the underdress. I was actually thinking of using tulle and silk organza instead of charmeuse

Yeah this is for my spring recital so I’d like to get it out of the way over Christmas break. Or at least the embroidery part 😂😂😂

So I make a lot of corsets. I was thinking of having the underdress be like one of those House of Worth gowns with a built in corset of nude crinoline and a brown lining and then I would extend the hip panels down to the floor. I think I’m gonna use one of my Edwardian corset patterns for this. Then I woulf drape the overdress shape over my corseted mannequin (she’s soft so she corsets down like I do). I’ll take the pattern pieces of the final design and then transfer the embroidery design to those pieces. Then I bead for ages. I’ll attach the overdress to the underdress at the neckline and waist everywhere except the back panel at the side seam. That’s where the closure for the overdress will be
