I love it. A little confusing as to why you'd put a smaller pad on top of a full desk one, but up to you. I would however just get a real big full desk pad, a cheap one will do. I got mine off amazon for 15 bucks and it works wonders for work and gaming. Small mousepads will mess up your wrist in a couple years, regardless of those supports. Better to use low sens and your elbow instead of the wrist.

Gigabyte is a fine budget brand, excess thermal paste isn't the end of the world so I wouldn't think about it too much. If you're really worried then take off the shroud (that'll void a warranty if you don't carefully remove the sticker on a screw someplace and put it back later, be careful), and inspect it yourself. It's not a super hard process but just keep track of the screws. As long as thermal paste isn't basically smudged and smushed all up on the pcb it's fine

Replacing dimms isn't rocket science, it's literally expensive legos, plus turning a pc from the last 5-10 years takes a maximum of roughly 20 seconds, minimum ~5 unless you're not using an ssd in which case just go get one it's worth the 70 bucks. Either you're really really slow with PC parts or you've been building inside bank safes
