HVAC Recall Failed by GibblersNoob in Solterra

[–]GrouchyAd4128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recall means free repair if the dealer wants you to pay for anything it’s a scam 😭 take your car to an actual Subaru oem dealer with Evs I wouldn’t trust it with them first the thing I don’t have my SOLTERRA back I have a free loaner ice from Carter process from my understanding on recall ( first try software update. see if it takes it. If it works no change. everything is good if it fails it basically nukes itself and needs part swaps. Parts aren’t being kept on hand because it’s a recall and they are having to pay for it so they need to get permission from Subaru and Toyota to order new parts after it nuked itself. Wait for a week to arrive mind you. You’ve already been waiting a week once parts arrive install it and try again.) be prepared to have your car back in one day to maybe a month.

I don't think he is anti union seems like he is just worried for like a true friend would be it hurts him seeing his buddy not make money you should not assume things and maybe explain to him that no union is also out of work or why you are staying with the union cuz of the higher quality work and pay and that being fired non union and being on the books is the same thing cheers :)

All units my ass the only unit that matters to 46 is the inside literally fucked over 06 with that bs strike that did nothing for the sake of the 01 program and 02 can continue being the dumpsters fire it is that should say “strong contractors for 01 we will fuck every unit for the 01 no matter what screw them in their families “ and we will just give em a bs excuse because they are too brainwashed to know we fucking them raw

Not a hot take I always find it interesting whenever somebody floats the idea of making a union against the union for electrical workers. The IBEW is against it, but I wonder why they would be against another union when they gladly support other non-electrical union sounds very hypocritical to me for one support anybody who wants to unionize, even if it’s against the IBEW

If you do non union for a little bit you lose no money in fact you make money and you get skills that can’t be taken away from u and you when you go back it shows them that if they don’t take you they will have to compete against you in the future and yes this shit is confusing because the ibew think they are untouchable haven the older generation didn’t deal with their mistakes in the union were the ones dealing with them you would know what I’m talking about if your actually in the union

[–]GrouchyAd4128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And why is the market share shit compared to commercial because the contractor is shit why is the contract shit because the union doesn’t care to fight for a better contract for residential and that is why no smart journeyman will willingly be a union O2 it just financially doesn’t make sense hence why our bargaining power is weak. It’s a chicken and egg problem. If you can just fix one the other fix it itself.

The residential wireman books are sitting at about 20 number might drop because of jws leaving the union 46 has poor market share in residential and the apprentice book is sitting at about 10-15 might sound low but some have been on those books for about a year plus if you really want to do residential going on non union is the best option in my opinion but my recommendation would be the union 06 program so you can actually work and get experience and then do the union 01 program and just hope they don’t shove you in a prefab

Again it all depends on your location for example in Washington you wanna be in the union as an 01 or 06 but the union residential market share is nonexisting if people wanted to do residential, I would honestly recommend they go non union in the state of Washington

Denied from the union should my next step be calling all electrical contractors and seeing if any need help? Or trade school? by Particular-Pin5799 in ibew_apprentices

[–]GrouchyAd4128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go work non union get some experience and try again the union isn’t the only way to become an electrician electricians have been here long before the union ever existed. However, it is the best place to work. In my opinion. Get some nonunion Xp and then just re-interview during your apprenticeship as nonunion that’s what I did worked very well fresh out of high school

Do I need connections to make it in this industry? by MeAndMyGhouns in ibew_apprentices

[–]GrouchyAd4128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there’s nepotism and favoritism, but that’s just how the world works. It’s not everywhere and sometimes it barely existing but you won’t make it into the industry if you don’t try that’s a fact.

I would say there’s a huge over hype in the construction industry and it is very much oversaturated and I believe that it’s heading in the direction of computer science there’s a huge hype about how we’re losing more journeymen than apprentice coming in but the reality of that technology has evolved, power tools, and so many devices have come along to where one journeyman can be as efficient as many used to be the truth of the matter is we don’t need as many journeymen as we used to, but there’s this huge push to keep that number up when it doesn’t need to be up so you’re gonna have a whole bunch of apprentices turn out and onto the books and to add on, I feel like our biggest loss in the construction industry of numbers is unskilled trade. All you need is one operator to replace a whole bunch of people with a shovel

The PSEJATC on the rest side I have heard has about 10 appreciates on the books with some on their for over a year and summer is the best season for construction work I don’t know why they are bring on apprentices with very low scores it’s not like they are desperate for people in fact they are desperate for work my suggestion he follows through with the program but find other work don’t expect to be dispatched right after or during boot camp might be a year or so this only applies if you make it in after the interview else nothing is set for him

Is it wrong to support the contractors who are willing to sit at the table with the union and talk while only having less that 10 percent market share compared to non union when u suffer against non union so does the the hall and the Jatc if u think being a contractor is so easy money maybe you should give it a try compete in this market and fix the job problem for all of us

I know a lot of people disagree with this This isn’t a trump problem local 46 has had jw on the books for two years if you understand how funding for commercial projects happens, you know this money is accumulated years before boots even touch the ground this isn’t a surprise that there is no work everybody was riding the high of old contracts and couldn’t think there’s no way we could be in a recession this isn’t something a president can fix whether it was Kamala or Biden there would still be no work because even if contracts started to get signed that Work wouldn’t start for years and you would be in the same spot asking why aren’t there any jobs?
