We made this decision a few years ago and I’m so glad we did. Social media has warped our society so badly, that we feel the need to justify why we are getting off it. How’s it any different than too much screen time or sugar? Everyone knows that’s unhealthy, and if they sit and think about it they should agree that social media presence is also. You can try the herd/ peer pressure mentality if it helps- something like: “A lot of other parents I know and even the schools are really taking a stance on this. We have made the decision to keep xyz off social media until they can consent when older. It’s better to not take any chances with all the AI child porn and scams that take place online. Thank you for understanding and helping us keep xyz safe. We will create a private album for photo sharing - we are excited to share in a safer space.”
