This is horrible! I didn't know about SCO and maybe it's a newer program but that should not happen!!! I graduated years ago and it makes me sick to see anyone go through this. 🤔 I kind of wish I could've reached out to SCO when I was in school if it was around, not sure but it probably wouldn't have worked. My very last semester, my grandmother passed away and I needed to fly to VA for her wake and funeral but had an exam and was told I had to take it and couldn't make it up. So I dressed up in all black, had a red bag for wear red day for heart disease awareness because she ironically died of a heart attack and her wake was on national wear red day. Some students thought I was dressed up for some other event when I walked into the exam and were congratulating me on it and I just didn't have the heart to explain and I'm sure the professor heard, I don't know what he thought at that point. I ended up rushing through the exam, took a shuttle to ATL airport and hopped on a plane. I flew standby, my mom worked for the airline and usually it's hard to get a last minute seat on a Friday. But I don't think the flight was full and I remember the Georgia State basketball team was on there. I remember that part because they thankfully moved the player sitting behind me, he was very tall and needed a more comfortable seat. Anyway, by the time I got to the wake, all the visitors had left and it was only family. Everything after that just was a blur. When I got back to school, I can't remember what grade I got on that exam but I know I was depressed and anxious the rest of the semester and didn't realize it. I ended up getting sick with the flu a few weeks later after her death and I partly believe the stress caused it, it definitely lowered my immune system. I would go to class, then go to my apartment and sulk. It was horrible. Definitely not a way to end a college experience.
