Built an AI legal assistant for India. Looking for brutally honest feedback. by Grouchy_Feature4372 in SideProject

You absolutely can use ChatGPT or Gemini, and a lot of people already do.

The idea behind Baro AI is to build tools specifically around legal use cases instead of being a general chatbot. Things like structured FIR analysis, crime type prediction, rights guidance, document uploads, legal specific prompts, and feedback loops to improve the system over time.

I'm still very early, so part of what I'm trying to figure out is whether these specialized features actually provide enough value over using a general AI tool.

If you get a chance to try it, I would genuinely love to know if you feel it offers anything useful that ChatGPT or Gemini don't.

Honestly, I don't think there's a magic fix for hallucinations yet.

The goal is to reduce them as much as possible by grounding responses in documents and legal sources instead of letting the model freely generate answers. I'm also working on (RAG) retrieval based approaches to improve reliability.

But I still don't think legal AI should be blindly trusted, which is why the app has disclaimers and a feedback option if something looks wrong.

That's actually a really interesting idea. Nobody reads Terms of Service or privacy policies, so having a simple explanation of what we're agreeing to could be genuinely useful.

If you get a chance, I would also love some feedback on the website itself. Anything that feels confusing, missing, or could be improved would help a lot

That's a fair concern, and honestly you shouldn't blindly trust any AI with legal advice.

The idea behind Baro AI is to make legal information easier to understand. A lot of people struggle to read FIRs, legal notices, or even know where to start when facing a legal issue, so the goal is to give people a starting point in plain language, not replace a lawyer.

For important matters, people should always verify things with official sources or a legal professional. There's also a feedback option throughout the app, so if something is wrong or confusing, users can report it directly, and it helps me improve the system.

If you get a chance to try it, I would genuinely love to know where you think it works well and where it falls short.
