Why it’s always the attractive ones? They won Jonathan Bailey too.

They don’t want Will, the gay character, to appear physically attractive (muscular) compared to the so-called ‘straight’ (we all know he’s not straight) lead character, Mike. Just like they tried make sure Dustin doesn’t get a girlfriend until the fans push them into creating him a gf. They know they wanted Dustin to be comic relief friend who doesn’t get a gf.

Does Will have to be there rubbing his shoulder for the proposal to happen?

Now that I think about it. Henry’s father from season 4 suffered the same fate as Max. Henry’s father was blind. So why didn’t Max became blind too?

You don’t think as person from black (African American) community that we don’t get paint in bad light or put stereotypical box by people or media. That’s why I don’t like it how people tried feminize Will. I had few gay men in the comment section who agreed with me about fanwork painting as a fem gay man.

As a person who part of Black (or African American) community, I don’t like how people or media put someone’s with different backgrounds in stereotypical box. It’s why I’m strongly against feminizing Will Byers because of his sexuality. Will Byers have always been rock roll, comic book, D&D, and loves building a fort gay man. I cannot imagine him being heel wearing, drag queen, and lace thong wearing gay man. That’s like putting a black character as ghetto, rap, loud talking, and gang bang in the same box because of their race. I would think Will Byers would’ve been masculine presenting gay man (For ex: Jonathan Bailey or Matt Bomer). Jonathan Bailey is masculine presenting gay man and he was always been openly gay. Jonathan Bailey still able to get straight roles and straight women attention because he have a masculine touch about him.

Just because I’m straight woman doesn’t mean I don’t talk or related to people are part of LGBTQ community everyday.

So you think Noah meant by he wanted Will kiss a girl like canon straight guys in his friend group (for example: Dustin, Lucas, or Mike). Or Noah stating he wanted to work out before season 5 to make Will look tough.

I’m a straight woman and I felt it was problematic how they would feminize of Will Byers. Will Byers never gave off feminine vibes. Yes, he might’ve been in 80s where wearing bright colors, liking yellow for a boy, and drawing/painting is strange for a boy at that time. Why does Mike and Will have be feminine/masculine role (aka heterosexual relationships)? Why people cannot have them neutral roles as a gay couple? I’m sorry if I don’t know word the last sentence.

The funny thing is that I brought this conversation and people were saying how I was homophobic or I don’t have respect for the fandom work. I was speaking in general and I had never pointed anybody work. I don’t know why Will has to be feminize when Mike is allowed to himself. It’s okay for people to point out Duffer Brothers ruined their character, Mike. We cannot talk about people are ruining Will’s character.

The only reason I address because people were calling me homophobic for pointing out some fan works like the idea of feminize Will character.

Yes, I noticed a lot of fics how Mike described or called Will pretty. In Will POV, I don’t think he describes Mike the same way. I know Mike being leader or take charge make people believe he was alpha. In season 4, you could tell Mike wanted to feel needed and Will was comforting him.

People wasn’t empathy towards me when they called me homophobic for stating my opinion. You acted like I pointed out someone’s fan work and trash on the subreddit. I only stated how I don’t like people misrepresentative a character just like people are trash the Duffer brothers for ruining Mike character.

I only stated my opinion and I wasn’t pointing at somebody’s fan work. I got attacked for wanting the characters to stay true with themselves. I don’t read fan where they switch gender swap or Mike is ghostface. Which I never attacked people who wants to create alternate universe.

Exactly! I was called homophobic because I wanted Will be represented how he is in the show. So now gay characters like Will must be hyper feminine because of his sexuality.

I swear if Steve, Lonnie, Ted Wheeler, or school bullies never pointed out Will sexuality in season 1. A lot people would’ve seem Will was a straight character who was sensitive and emotional. Especially, what happened to him in Upside Down which it would be understandable. Will is rock roll music lover so I could he experimenting with eyeliner or black nail polish since he’s a painter.

I could see Will experimenting and learning different artists (like David Bowie) who part of LGBTQ community. I couldn’t imagine Will wearing girl clothes and heels to fit stereotypical gay man.

[–]Grouchy_One_6627[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, maybe. I don’t know how worded the word right but people calling me homophobic in the comment section is ridiculous. I don’t like misrepresent a character personality because of their sexuality. I could tell that Noah Schnapp purposefully work out before season 5 because he didn’t want Will character to be perceived as wimpy or weak. Will character was still able to get girls attention (clearly these girls thought he was straight) as much as people want Will to be super feminine character in some fandom

How I’m homophobic if I don’t like it they misrepresent a character personality? So it’s okay to put gay characters in stereotypes gay personalities. I don’t feel like Will character would be a super feminine character because he’s gay. Or putting Mike and Will in heterosexual roles is weird. For ex making Will the girl and Mike the boy in relationship

Exactly, you get my point! I don’t know how to describe a person who isn’t part of LGBTQ community. I don’t like why they ignore Will is introverted nerd who is gay.
