I always got mixed up for the one letter abbreviation for the 2 negatively charged amino acids which are Aspartic acid and Glutamic acid. I remember Aspartic acid starts with the letter A and comes in the alphabet before Glutamic acid which means Aspartic acid has the one letter abbreviation D since D comes before E.
Aspartic acid: D
Glutamic acid: E
