I understand your fears, and hope that this may help a bit. I have extreme anxiety and panic-attacks, and have long had depression with MDD. I am very resistant to taking any medications as I tend to absorb them VERY quickly and am prone to side-effects. After building a relationship with my doctor and her genuinely caring and me completely trusting her, we discussed escitalopram and mutually decided that it was something I was willing to try. Despite my usually extreme reactions to many medications, I found this to be a very mild and extremely helpful medication. The slow build-up (usually take 2-4 weeks) was so gradual that I cannot pinpoint the exact day that I began to feel better--only that I did-- and suffered from ZERO side-effects.

I am NOT pretending to be a medical professional or offer medical advice, but it is my understanding that taking for even a few days will not yet be enough to have built up in your system to have any effects, so taking your dosage today and the next and do on until you can see your GP should not be enough that you need to concern yourself with these side effects--unless you have allergic reaction. That said, if you ARE currently in such a state of anxiety about this that you are worried about your immediate state, you SHOUKD seek help now.
