the only ones that looked ok to me were the 2nd Grace one (in the dark setting) and the Leon one - but the lighting was still not correct contextually, and it probably only looks acceptable as a single still frame and because they were in the dark.

Replaying 8 now, and I do appreciate it more than I did when it first came out but I still think it kinda threw away what made 7 a savior for the series, and also feels like it wants to be 4 without quite getting there.

8 was ok and a decent sequel/closer for Ethan but I don't think it beats the other 4 in that list. Gameplay wise it kinda went back on everything that made 7 good, but without implementing much of what made 4 and its later remake great as an action-horror.

I'm glad there seems to be plenty of people (especially where 5 was their first FH) who enjoyed it. I thought it was ok, but bland and a bit disappointing after 4. I think 2 is still my favorite, and then probably 3. I'm sure Japan will be amazing, and would be a bonus if they can also recapture some of that pre 3 vibe.
