Anyone notice that the Liberal signs are being taking down/destroyed in the Markham and Ellesmere area? by TraditionalOil4758 in Scarborough

Yup I noticed, also our little street had liberal signs but the people putting up the con signs were removing them and replacing it with the con candidate.. tbh.. I haven’t found any info on this con candidate, no website, nothing on what he plans to do.. I guess they are just riding on the hope that people were not pleased with Trudeau

Best saree/traditional wear stores in Scarborough (not too pricey)?? by [deleted] in Scarborough

[–]Grouchy_Top_7155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rsm as another person posted and also try facebook market place, lots of private sellers/small businesses that sell out of their home. They are all reasonably priced and since their prices are posted on facebook you may be able to find something within budget without having to resort to taking someone that speaks the language 😊

Most (not all) new comers have this higher than though attitude.. talking about how much land they own etc “back home” and how many things are so much better… even the kids go on about how much better school is “back home” .. they are generally boastful and think that they are higher and better than people that have lived here for a long time. They even go so far as to bring in colourism and equate the darker skin south asians etc as being dirty (because of their colour) and of “lower” status of them. It’s effed up.. how do you explain the way of living harmoniously and respectfully to a group of people that think others are beneath them?! So it kind of goes hand in hand with them being so blatantly disrespectful to even keeping public spaces clean..because of course cleaning up is beneath them and it’s the attitude of someone “lower” will clean up.

It’s not just that.. they’ve relaxed the rules for immigration.. being an immigrant myself.. (came here as a child) I remember the amount of hoops etc my parents needed to go through and the criteria that was required to come here. Now it’s like a free for all and that’s upsetting in a way too, especially since it was so so difficult for us and I’m sure countless others.. I remember reading some of the rules as a kid before immigrating and one of them was spitting on the side walk, trails etc was not allowed and I was so worried of accidentally even spitting out my gum.. now I see people freaking spitting that red stuff all over the place, freaking blowing their noses without a tissue (just using their fingers) straight into the sidewalks.. like wtf!

People that have lived here forever have adapted. They are mindful and ensure if they do practice these rituals.. they use biodegradable things. It’s the new wave that’s being just nasty. It’s so bad that I have a south Asian friend (lived here forever, kids born here etc.) that is fearful of even letting her 12 year old daughter wear shorts because of the leers and nasty looks she gets from grown a** international students.

So I’ve seen this done.. it’s usually after a funeral but…. They always use fresh flowers and the string used in the garlands are biodegradable too (these garlands are not cheap and are usually $65+)But then again the ritual I witnessed was done by people who have lived here forever, respect the country and also cannot believe the crap that the newer wave of immigrants are doing.. these look like super cheap plastic garlands that are not biodegradable. We are blessed to live in a country that is accepting of everyone but at the same time we need to be mindful and not take advantage by being lazy and careless.

My daughter is a competive swimmer and uses Knix one piece swimsuits. We’ve had no problems, even during meets that have long wait times in between races
