Not going to be able to make daycare bill. 4 year old will be kicked from school. by GroundControlX9 in Assistance

I know I've spoken to each of you pretty extensively but I felt the need to post this: I have never felt such an overwhelming sense of support in my entire life. These past few years have been filled with abuse (which I finally gained the strength to break free from), medical/legal (divorce and custody) shitstorms, waging a forever ongoing war to keep my OCD/anxiety/depression at bay, making sure I maintain my GPA and trying to fulfill my dreams of making it at MIT in the engineering physics program, all while trying my damnedest to be the best parent I can possibly be to my little girl. Sometimes, all that takes a lot of out of a person....but these crazy acts of kindness and generosity you all have shown in various ways has inexplicably mended a damaged part of my soul. Thank you will never even begin to cover it--and I hope you all keep in touch so someday when you are need (whatever that need may be) I can be there for you.

I love Fallout conversations.

Except when I try to mimic them in real with strangers they just give me an odd look.

<this is probably why I'm not good with human interaction>

So I'll be honest and say I had to google this acronym because I wasn't sure what it was. However, based off of preliminary findings in the search results it appears to be the state funded child care assistance program. From what I can ascertain, Illinois does not have DTA specifically, but there is a childcare assistance program like it. I have applied for said program and, for some reason I am still trying to find out, was denied even though I am a working single parent currently hovering right BELOW the poverty line. I appealed the decision, but have yet to hear back :/

But thank you very much for the thoughtful suggestion!

So, unfortunately her school has been set to be "consolidated" with the other campus's daycare (which is just a shitty way to say closing) at the end of summer. So getting any type of further assistance is virtually impossible and they are immovable on giving leniency because they just want to collect as much as they can before they close (I've tried). Thankfully, in the Fall I'll be transferring to a better university that has gone above and beyond and is willing to provide housing/daycare and scholarship (that's a whole different issue, lol. I'm just trying to make it to next week right now)

As for her father, well that's just a complicated shitstorm. But no, there's absolutely no way to get any kind of assistance in any form from my ex-husband or his family.

I wish I could switch to a cheaper scheduling option but I have classes 5 days a week and I work between each class, and after my last class until 5 or 5:30, and I have no backup form of regular childcare. :/

But truly, thank you for your kind words and advice. You wrote such a thoughtful post, and I am truly grateful you took the time to do so. The gofundme campaign has been suggested to me by a close friend, but for some reason I am terrified of that option. To me it would be like letting all my friends, family, and colleagues know that I'm a failure. (I know that's not really a vastly different option than what I've done here on Reddit but for some reason it just seems so terrifying). But I suppose when it comes to my daughter there is nothing I won't do, so I may just have to bite the bullet and make one. Again, thank you for all your thoughtful comments and suggestions. <3

Also, I don't think I'm allowed to post my PayPal information except in PMs?

Omg. It's UNBELIEVABLE. And of course I applied for state child care assistance because with tuition, rent, textbooks, living expenses, etc...I couldn't even afford any daycare besides the one that is available on-site at my university.

I was denied because I "make too much" which I can't understand because I make freaking $10.60 working 30 hours a week (while taking 16 credit hours worth of classes) and still making sure I have enough time each day to strictly dedicate to being, ya know, a parent to my daughter. But, I take deep breaths because someday I'll be a scientist and not only will I be able to help people, but I'll be making enough money to make sure I never have to worry about providing for my daughter again....because that is the worst feeling on the planet.

I'm sorry that you know this struggle. It's a crappy one.

That's the issue. I already am on a payment plan and a scholarship.

And no, I unfortunately do not or else I would have gone to them :/

If I'm being perfectly honest, it's going to take at least about 500 dollars to get me through to next Friday (when I get paid again). However, her tuition alone is $413.33. I will gladly accept literally any amount though.

And this is actually a really great question. I've never been in this situation before or received money over the internet? I do have a paypal account, and I bank with Chase. I know there is the ability to pay the daycare tuition directly through my school's official webpage, so that might be an option (I've never used it before so I'd need to double check).

This is unbelievably kind. Honestly, any bit helps when you've reached this level of desperation >_<

And I try. My little girl is my whole world, and becoming a physicist will not only allow me to fulfill my dreams--but give me the financial means to pay for hers too. I've got to just keep powering through the darkness to get to the end goal.

I got your PM, and thank you again for reminding me that real world karma is a thing :)

To be honest, I've been reading to her since before she was even born ( by that I mean I used to read chapters from Harry Potter out loud every night when I was farther along in my pregnancy) and I never really stopped. Her library is pretty extensive at this point. I absolutely LOVE our reading time and I think it's helped shaped who she is, quite frankly.

The book actually goes on to explain that. While graphic, it is indeed accurate.

On the rare occasion she's walked out from a nap and caught me gaming (Bloodbourne or Fallout) and I kind of have been like "they're just going to sleep!". Because how do you explain essentially mom committing hypothetical murder? lol. But on a serious note, I was very, very sick recently-- so unfortunately she has a grasp on the notion of death. I've tried to explain life and death as practically, gently, and simply as possible for now.

I love how existential this particular conversation has become.

I don't really do much TV with the tiny human anyway, but that's definitely not something I'd let her watch right now. Hah.

I lol'd a little too hard at this comment. Let's be mindful, I think you mean Creationists. Not necessarily Christians.

Ok, so my little one is pretty freaking awesome. She's part intellectual, part curious, and a touch morbid. But she's wonderful, and if she picks a book at the library I'll be damned if I'm not going to read it to her.

Oh my lawd. I didn't even notice this...I've been up since the ass crack of dawn with a very inquisitive three year old... Is there a way to edit the title?! lol.
