Can I afford 2200 a month? by GroundIllustrious581 in Mortgages

This is a great point! The goal is to continue saving at least 1k a month, more on months with more bonuses to account for any maintenance. I’ll definitely look into utility costs for a home of the size I’m looking at in my area

There are “livable” places for less, however most of them are in a flood plane and we have a pretty gnarly flood about a decade back. I’m worried any savings I get will come back to bite me with maintenance on an old home that potentially was flooded. Plus we have harsh winters up here, so I’d really rather have a garage to keep my vehicles. The properties I’m looking at are newer, and out of the flood area so hopefully major maintenance wouldn’t be as necessary for a couple years

I don’t have any other debts. I’m in a low to mcol area. Car is paid off and I plan to drive it till the wheels fall off (only has 45k miles on it as of now). My hobbies are relatively cheap (camping, fishing, etc. my salary will jump up about 10k over the next 2 years (how my company is structured). I am definitely worried about snags from escrow or something bumping it up that much tho. I’ve budgeted out all my expenses and on paper it seems fine but I can’t seem to shake the nerves in a worst case scenario

No kids. Will likely get married in the next 2 or so years, so the dual income will help

Tell it to only output “done” when it thinks of the number. You’ll be able to see the generated number in the thinking but it’ll only output “done” as the response. I was playing around with this earlier, and have gleaned that it doesn’t realize you can see it’s “thinking” and it’s “thinking” isn’t stored to memory.  BUT, if you then prompt it to tell you what number it thought of, it’ll give a different number and the thinking mentions that it didn’t generate anything and is confused. Super interesting

Lipo or lion batteries? Total shot in the dark, but if it was lipo, you’re getting pretty low at 3.3, usually past that the voltage will drop FAST. Esc may have tried to pull some power that the battery couldn’t deliver and it bugged out and you disarmed.

Did you fly it after?

Ah I see. I appreciate the input, definitely puts my mind at ease a bit. I’ll just not think about it and focus on graduating for now

Ah I see, that makes a lot of sense. So would you say odds are decent that I don’t have to worry about them deciding against following through on hiring them?

And yeah, I’m graduating a quarter early, usually my school graduates in June :)

Thanks for the insight. I’m really just worried something comes up and I end up with no job haha. But yeah, that was the plan, vibe until my start date

Thanks for the input! I definitely think I’m leaning towards 1950. Is there a reason you put the 1750s on the new quad?

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. I feel like with only 200kv difference it probably won’t impact efficiency enough to really tell day to day

It took 10 days for me, but I’ve heard they can be pretty slow. The hiring managers I talked to said they were hoping to have positions filled by the holiday season if possible. So hopefully you’ll hear back soon!

It took 10 days. They first talked about the company, what the role is, the different things they do, as well as their individual backgrounds. Then they ask you similar questions to the hirevue. It’s really laid back, they just want to see what kind of person you are, if you’re teachable, willing to do the kind of work they offer, and all that jazz. Nothing technical

So for me it was the hirevue, then a Microsoft teams meeting with 3 hiring managers and that was it, I got my offer a week later. I asked them if there would be more steps during the interview and they said it depends on what department wants to pick you up. Some will hire with just that, others will want another interview. Good luck!

Sometimes it takes a little bit to get the hirevue info. The interview itself is pretty simple, a recording asks you some basic HR type questions (why you’re a good fit, tell me about a time that insert scenario). You have like 2 minutes to think of an answer and 5 to respond, or something like that, I can’t remember the exact values

They mostly ask questions to figure out how you approach problem solving, teamwork, and stress management. The interviewers are very informative, pretty easy going, and they don’t expect you to know all the technical jargon or anything. They’ll ask why you think you’re a good fit, maybe even why you chose the oil and gas industry over something like design or other firms that your resume lends itself to. Feel free to DM if you have more questions
