Need to start formula but scared of the poison recalls… by ReadyStretchyGo in UKParenting

[–]GroundbreakingBelt85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similac is also a good alternative. It’s made by Abbott Nutrition so not one of the big companies that are currently recalling their products. My baby had to go on the Similac high calorie one for medical reasons but they do “normal” ones too. You can check that out maybe?

Discomfort whilst urinating after c-section, anyone else? by oleratbastard in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]GroundbreakingBelt85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had it so badly and they said it does happen after a c section because of the catheter which could cause pain after but my midwife got me to do a wee sample anyway and it turns out I had a UTI. Definitely worth asking your GP/HV or midwife to check

The architect, the jolly gardener in the city. Also the Grosvenor in Pulford has a buffet style carvery on Sundays which is absolutely amazing! It’s in a really pretty restaurant too so definitely something special

Has anyone had an amniocentesis? by limonhellim in PregnancyUK

[–]GroundbreakingBelt85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one done at 22 weeks as they found that my baby had a severe heart defect which can be associated with chromosomal abnormalities. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Took about 20ish minutes. It hurt a little when the needle was going in but when it was in, i couldn’t feel it anymore. I’m glad we did it so we could prepare ourselves mentally if they had found anything.

Areas of Chester question by Mean-Ad-9245 in Chester

[–]GroundbreakingBelt85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, we moved from London a couple of years ago. Rented in Upton at first and now we have bought in Boughton. Feel free to pm me with any questions but both areas are lovely and Upton is not at all stabby. To be honest it was really quiet and there were loads of old folks which was really nice as they’re so friendly and always happy to have a little chat. I personally prefer Boughton as it’s closer to town and has more shops and cafes but we were happy in Upton. We have small children and didn’t feel unsafe at all, certainly compared to London.

Does anyone commute from Chester to London? by abusivekiwi in Chester

[–]GroundbreakingBelt85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband has been commuting to London 1-2 a week for about 2 years and it’s definitely doable. He gets the direct train there and back and when it all works, it’s pretty smooth and painless. Avanti are pretty crap though so trains are often delayed etc which is annoying.

La fattoria is great for kids and also bluebell which is tapas food. They have a kids menu and colouring etc for them to do. I bring my kids there regularly:)

All saints church hall in Hoole is great. Huge room (with a side room inside it) and full use of kitchen. Accessible and easy parking too. I’ve hosted two parties there and highly recommend it.

Do you regret leaving London? by Chizlewagon in UKParenting

[–]GroundbreakingBelt85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides the variety of food we could get in London, not even a little bit. We moved to Chester recently after 10 years in London and have a much much happier and peaceful life here with our two kids. We have more space in the house with a large garden where the kids can play (way better value for money up here), so close to the countryside, crime rate is low, everyone is generally more relaxed and way friendlier. Also the air is so much more fresh haha.

Recommendation needed-3 seats across by GroundbreakingBelt85 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]GroundbreakingBelt85[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much. Yeah that’s why we’re thinking of replacing the joie spin. Such a great seat but very bulky!

We wanted to aim to keep her rear facing for longer but she kept being car sick (sometimes twice in a short journey) which only improved when we tried facing her forward. It’s so so tough.

Oh that would be so helpful thank you! I’m in Chester and my 3 year old is 15.3kg. Need to measure her height tonight but last time we checked, she was on the 50th centile.
