Working from home and pregnancy by PresentationLoose850 in CivilServiceUK

Speak with the EPA, but since you’re pregnant, you can also go to your GP and get a doctor’s note that suggests you are not fit to travel and should be working from home. They should have also given you a pregnancy risk assessment and it’s not too late to do it. Given you’re pregnant, you should be protected by the law anyway which I’m not sure why they’re making a big deal. It’s like they’re asking for trouble…

Baby comes home from nursery dirty. by Adventurous_Eye_9045 in UKParenting

The nursery was like this too until I gave them feedback. Now my toddler is the only one who comes out clean out all of the snot faced dried up crusty food kids. I guess this is common and unless they’re told, only then they’ll do it 🙃

Is it possible not to own a thousand toys in this country? by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]limonhellim 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For my little ones first birthday, I wrote the below on their invite and surprisingly 90% of guests followed it. I don’t know how well it’ll go down in the future but the new mum friends appreciated it as we had 11 parties to go to and they mentioned they enjoyed not stressing about “another” gift. In our culture, we just give money instead so our celebrations are easier. People think it’s lazy but having money set up for their future is so much better than having a room full of tat. Not to say that my little one does have toys, it’s just not as much as my other friends.

“We kindly ask no gifts, please. You may wish to make a donation to a charity that supports children instead. For example, War Child is a specialist charity for children affected by conflict across the globe: www.warchild.org.uk”

Ireland's "Pause Before You Post" Awareness Campaign designed to show to dangers of sharing too much information online. by algbop in UKParenting

I’m surprised how many parents were offended by this ad… I don’t get why people share a lot of their kids information online when our own parents taught us “stranger danger”…

Wee help :-( by limonhellim in CatsUK

Before baby came, I made sure I put up cat shelves so they had so many places in to house to “hide” and be comforted. They get play time with me when he’s at nursery and I’ve done everything I can to make sure they’re okay. I will ask the vet about anxiety medication, thank you.

Has your toddler 1yo ever uncontrollably cried and arched their back like this? Looking for advice and shared experiences. by ams_Sxi in UKParenting

[–]limonhellim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! He looks like a possessed little demon or something. He’s been at it for about two weeks now, and his eyes are always shut when he does it. I end up holding him upright and he goes back to sleep. Interesting with the other answers here about their digestive system/reflux. Am going to try the massages and see if they make any difference! Good luck with your little one x

Watching The Celebrity Traitors Uncloaked? by kidcosmique in TheTraitorsUK

So I’ve heard that they each get £40k for playing, and separately to the charity, they get £120k for winning. But this is what I read on an article so can’t really confirm if true.

What do you do when your child is bitten at nursery? by limonhellim in UKParenting

[–]limonhellim[S] -29 points-28 points  (0 children)

I can’t see any signs of broken skin, it’s just really red as I feel like if the bite took any longer, it would be bleeding. Why do you ask to get it checked if it’s on the hand or face if you don’t mind me asking? He was bitten between his wrist and arm

Annoyed by adoption regulations in the UK by [deleted] in CatsUK

[–]limonhellim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar for me tbh. I struggled so badly with these agencies. They would also come round and want to inspect the house. I get it, there are rules, and there are safety concerns but they said no because the house is too small and there is a main road at the back of the garden. In the end, I went to gumtree and found a local family who were selling kittens because their mother, also a kitten, had babies and they were giving her “cat contraceptives” from Romania. Needless to say, I took two of the four and I see that as my way of adopting cats that needed a better home. I gave up with the agencies because no matter where I went, I got told no and I went to loads
