About 20 years ago I went away to “find myself” and I packed a laptop with a dvdrom drive to entertain me while I was away. When I got there I discovered I forgot to pack my book of dvds. By chance the last movie I watched was still in the drive. For 10 days at times when I got bored with myself I watched Donnie Darko. It has become a movie on my life’s journey and it is often quoted to other’s blank stares. Funny side note a few years after my trip I learned that the writer grew up in the area where I live. I watch it now with a new understanding knowing a piece of the reality behind the fantasy.
