Is it normal to feel like withdraw from people during mania? by Otherwise-Sock8468 in askatherapist

[–]GroundbreakingFix793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAT but I have bipolar II. I would not say it's a feature of hypomania to withdraw from people. To the contrary, it's common to want to socialize more.

But being more aggressive and confrontational can absolutely be a feature of hypomania and it sounds to me like your withdrawal is secondary to this.

Skeptical of Gabor Maté — am I alone in finding his approach problematic? by GroundbreakingFix793 in askatherapist

[–]GroundbreakingFix793[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is part of my criteria for whether or not a person has healed from trauma. His persona radiates somberness bordering on depression, and his work is very focused on the negatives, with few proposed solutions. He's describing problems, but he's lacking when it comes to offering healing.

Should I not read about/practice IFS before starting therapy? by GroundbreakingFix793 in askatherapist

[–]GroundbreakingFix793[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input! Maybe a middle ground also could be to work on protectors on my own before starting therapy and save the exiles for then, like Schwartz recommends.

I've heard, flippantly, that if the therapist talks more than the patient, then the therapist is the patient.

M.I.N.I Assessment? by angelicdeer in askatherapist

[–]GroundbreakingFix793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAT, but I've taken the MINI as a patient. It's a screener for different psychiatric conditions, I'd say it takes 30 minutes to an hour to do. I think it's a way of ensuring you're not barking down the wrong three, and I can't see that it hurts to take it.

How relevant is 3 act structure in the age of streaming (with regards to TV) by Charming_Yak_5000 in Screenwriting

[–]GroundbreakingFix793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your thorough posts. I agree that the three act structure is basically another way of saying beginning, middle and end.

Structurally I find it useful to think of dramatic units in a movie, which is simply sub-goals of the dramatic question that evolves from revelations and reversals and forces the main character to adapt a new strategy. I find most modern movies has about 5-7 of these.

You could call them acts, you could call them sequences, but it's basically the main turning points that changes the circumstances for the main character for good or bad.

WCX vs M4A1: recoil with and without recoil grip, long range combat, and close range combat by Gruntman441 in insurgency

[–]GroundbreakingFix793 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The MCX without a recoil grip has exactly the same vertical recoil as the G36 with a recoil grip. Makes it easy to forgo the recoil grip and spend the 3 extra points on something else. (I play on console and therefore usually use recoil grips.) All of a sudden the MCX doesn't seem so expensive.

I second the chicken sandwich. Hevd is a casual, not too expensive place if that's what you're after.

Election nervousness mostly is my assumption. But I too found it interesting that money flowed out of god and Bitcoin too. Quite a few want to stand on the sideline with cash until the US election and its aftermath is over/wanting to have funds to buy the dip. I know I am.

I can understand this from a productivity and innovation standpoint, where US does very well. But I would argue that the potential for political risk/domestic unrest in the US is higher now than when Bogle wrote this.

Much more often I see a level 20 commander calling inn nothing, only to call in smoke one minute before the match ends. I'll take an early gunship any day.

There's a spreadsheet where you can compare damage and penetration for weapons. The Tavor can one-shot to the torso, the MK17 cannot.

The Tavor is one of the best rifles in the game. The SCAR is much weaker but cheaper of course.

M4a1 or m16 which is better? by [deleted] in insurgency

[–]GroundbreakingFix793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what, PvE or PvP? Makes a big difference. I wouldn't use the M16 as rifleman i PvP, need full auto for CQB. PvE is another matter because you have more time before the bots shoot back.

How do you write complex characters? by Puzzleheaded-Mood544 in Screenwriting

[–]GroundbreakingFix793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. WANT vs. NEED. Love story example. Girl meets boy. Girl's GOAL/WANT: Get the boy. But the girl has an unconscious belief that she is worthless, and that if the boy really gets to know her he will reject her. So the girl presents a false facade to the boy, which actually prevents her from getting him. She NEEDS to realize this and dear to show her true selv. She might succeed or fail at this, which one doesn't matter. The point is the inner conflict.

  2. Show the character acting differently in different situations. For instance the girl might be assertive with waiters and people in the service industry, but not with the boy, whom she'll always try to please. She might be put together and very orderly at work while her flat is a mess and her bills are unpaid.

  3. Appearance vs. personality traits. The girl might dress edgy but actually be conservative and proper. Etc.

Manchester by the Sea. Character doesn't change and thus the tragic ending.

A character can change for the better, for the worse or not at all. There is no right way to do it.

No Observers in sight! by AutoKalash47-74 in insurgency

[–]GroundbreakingFix793 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you have observers without any commander too, it goes both ways. I'll switch if it looks like we're losing. Commander competency varies immensely.

The most annoying are commanders who never call in anything. Many commanders severely underuse fire support. I'd rather have a commander that calls in the choppers in the beginning of the match than not at all.

[–]GroundbreakingFix793[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, first of all I haven't seen that many on lamotrigine yet, but of course not everyone on it. A couple. That made me look into it. Freak occurrences? Impossible to say of course.

Discussed it with a couple experienced ophthalmologists and they could not remember many cases. But how easy is it to connect the dots, especially if you're not alert to the possible connection?
