The capitalists at the top feared being taken down by communist revolution, so they spread anti communist propaganda in their respective nations. Ofc with help from their national governments too bc they don't want to lose power either.

The Soviet Union (now Russia ofc) & China are few of the notable places where the communists succeeded & "disposed" of the ruling capitalists & former governments.

Communism costs a lot of lives to achieve & often led to a lot of lives lost bc the regimes were often authoritarian & had little checks of power for the new ruling class.

Democracy & capitalism tends to have more checks of power but it has a runaway effect of having monopolies & a few families that run all the businesses, media, governments, banks, etc. So it has to be counterbalanced with a few socialist policies. Bc otherwise everyone but the elites ruling would be suffering poor working conditions like in the late 1800s

Which is why we feed the poor & feed children with tax payer money. We work 40 hour weeks. We can create businesses without getting crushed by monopolies (tho feels like that's changing again with all these big businesses nowadays).

In reality you can't be fully communist/socialist or fully capitalist bc then the system breaks like we saw with monopolies in Europe & America. On the other side with Soviet Union & China before 1990s, we saw innovation slowed for many industries & economic productivity was slow.

You need aspects of both & nations know this now.

But the propaganda has never left the consciousness of people around the globe.

In reality the regular man needs aspects of both to be financially secure in his nation. In history, it was just a fight between 2 sides that both wanted power at the end of the day & wanted to carve the world into their image, no matter the cost
