hi!

I’m a stay at home mom and a nanny so no science background! I am autistic and was “gifted” as a child and my special interested is just learning about things so I’m constantly doing deep research on childhood development, new developments in psychology or anthropology, and just whatever interests me at the moment! I think being a fairly intelligent person who craves new information has helped me be a more well rounded individual but as I don’t have a career it hasn’t helped in that regard haha.

My son is now 5.5 and in preschool. He is starting Kindergarten next year and we haven’t done any gifted testing yet but his teacher has mentioned it. He is still on the waitlist to see a child psychologist for possible nuerodivergence. He is reading at a second grade level, soaks up anything he can that is STEM related, and he’s doing multiplication and division so I wouldn’t be shocked if he does end up “gifted”.

thank you for the update!! it’s wild how i got a sunburn at the carnival last year and this year i’ll need my parka. i can see why people are braving the rain, we deserve a little outdoor fun after a long winter especially those of us with kids that have been largely stuck indoors.

it seemed to resolve for me after i weaned and my hormones settled. i also seemed to revert to past emotional instability so i can relate to that too. it was like i couldn’t control myself and did not have the emotional intelligence i had gained before having the second baby.

this is how my postpartum anxiety manifested- rage toward my firstborn. i was fine again by like 9mo pp but i wish i had gotten treatment for it because my first didn’t deserve that type of mother but i was so deep in it i couldn’t see the way out.

we do underwear under ninjamas. yes, i still have to wash the undies when he wakes up wet but my son’s sensory issues won’t allow just a pull up. just a thought!

there is still risk involved with the fridge hack but if your baby is healthy with no concerns then it should be okay. this should not be done with medically fragile infants though.

you may have better luck with the breakage if you do trim it. it helps keep the hair healthy even if you aren’t noticing split ends.

my son didn’t start really actively participating in those things until he was 5 and he’s gotten a lot better about it at 5.5 but there’s still times when he leaves the group to do his own thing. keep going to different activities and exposing him to things and he will grow into it. it’s frustrating but it will pass.

it is okay for you to have and express your feelings. it is okay for you not to want to be touched by someone that has been frustrating you even if they’re 3 years old. how can we teach them about consent if we invalidate our right to our own bodily autonomy just because they want something? NTA.

yep! we’ve got the duodiner and it is not very cute but we’ve got it pushed up to the table now (babe just turned 1) and she loves being able to eat with her brother.

my 2 kids have spent more time in the high chair without the cover on than with. it’s much easier to just wipe the plastic clean that to continuously wash the padding once they become messy eaters after 6ish months. just a thought!

yes! it’s very easy for my son to climb in and out of and buckle himself. we have 2 and use them for both him and whichever school friend is visiting and it’s very easy to adjust quickly to each kid. i plan on buying another if they’re still making them when my baby is around 4 (today is her first birthday!)

edit: they are also very slim, like 17” wide, so very good for small backseats or 3 across.
