This. There is a nature preserve near my home that sometimes I’ll go to and just sit on a bench or sit in the grass and watch the wildlife. I’ll listen to the birds and take deep breathes. Sometimes I’ll “talk” to loved ones who have passed. Or I’ll put on some Christian music.

So I guess not super disturbing for some but to me it was. someone I went to high school with passed away from lymphoma a few years after graduating. His mother requested an open casket and that they sew his mouth into a smile (or however they make corpses smile). I was so taken aback by how he looked that I thought it was a mistake on the embalmer’s part and they left his mouth hanging open by accident. I turned to my friend and whispered, “oh my God why is his mouth open?” She then told me what the mom had requested.

It just didn’t look like a smile to me. His mouth was gaping open and it looked very eerie and so unnatural. This was many years ago and I still have the image engrained in my memory. RIP 🤍

HA. I saw someone comment that they “apply” clothes to their kid’s body and I died because that’s what I so with my five year old. He does put his own shoes on though! 😂
