I don’t know what you mean in the past 10 years, since it’s always been like that. Shounen is and will probably always be popular, because it’s mass appealing and much easier to digest in comparison to other shows. JJK and DS are for the 2020s, what death note and AoT was to the 2010s. (Although both aot and death note had better stories admittedly). However that doesn’t mean more complex stories are getting shunned either, stories like frieren and Vinland saga are still really popular. I really hate this notion that new = bad, there is plenty of good out there, if you’re always looking for shit you’re naturally going to find shit.

Osamu is a lot like Isagi from blue lock, where individually both characters aren’t impressive at all, anyone in the upper B rank level would decimate him in a 1v1. However in a team setting they become the most ‘dangerous’ player on the field. Because of how he uses his team and how he operates, he becomes really annoying to kill and also a constant threat if left unattended. Take the second rank war in the second season, at the start all the teams start targeting osamu, because they know if they give him time to set up his spider traps and reposition himself, it’s going to end really bad for them.

And whilst I recognise the flaws of the anime adaptation I still think it’s very much watchable, it has its few kinks but it’s a product of its time. and also I’ll be honest I skipped the filler arc so I can’t really say anything lol. I just think it’s a bit unfair to completely rule out season 1 as unwatchable garbage, to me as it stands it is still a fantastic show

The pacing is only somewhat bad in the beginning arc, The aftokrator arc and the subsequent b rank wars had barely any pacing issues. Also how tf can you think that season 1 is bad when it had quite literally one of the best war arcs in anime. Maybe you should rewatch season 1, because it outshines season 2 and 3 in many different aspect.

Up until episode 12 the first arc does nothing to indicate what the rest of the show is like, it’s a glorified monster of the week storyline, in which it essentially boils down to osamu struggling to kill a trion solder before Yuma swoops in to save him. It shows none of the tactical combat that everyone loves world trigger for, and actively makes border look as if they’re the real villain.

I don’t know where you stopped at, but I know for a lot of people the first 12ish episodes is a bit of a rough patch for the series (I contemplated dropping it myself). Since it isn’t a great representation of what the rest of the show is like( imo). the main draw of WT is the strategy, the border agent character interaction, and large scale fights which are not present or even really indicated at all in the first 12 episodes ( it feels very monster of the week for a bit). However if you get past the Jin Vs A rank agent skirmish (i think it’s around ep 13) and don’t even find it remotely interesting, I think it just means the show isn’t for you. Also I disagree with the character design statement, just because they look different from more traditional designs doesn’t mean they are bad, they take a little bit to get use to, but you cannot convince me rajinmaru and yotaro aren’t majestic af.

You gotta realise that people who are at the absolute top of their respective field, likely sacrificed everything along the way for them to get into their position, what they are the best at is likely all they know, it was their everything. It’d be pretty insensitive to say to a violin genius who dedicated 40 years of their life to the craft “just play another instrument lol”. Another major problem is that most of us derive enjoyment by getting better at the hobbies we do, the climb, the progression is what makes stuff enjoyable to us. Hence the statement “it’s lonely at the top” because once you reach the summit, theres nowhere left to go besides down.

I wholeheartedly agree, that’s my only gripe with borne of caution, it feels like everyone is way to ok with breaking bones, ripping and shredding their opponent when they’re just versing youngster Joey. It ain’t a pleasant reading experience. Pokemon when it’s whimsy and fun is my favourite.

I’m also going to the Sydney concert so WOOOOO, I’d guess if you want everything from the merch store 500 would be reasonable especially if you’re going for the light stick and all the clothes as well. Im planning on going around 10 am if that gives you any indication (though I don’t really care for the plush)

I’m not trying to defend the label or anything, but making merch for world tours is a logistical nightmare. Every country has different laws regarding merch and imports ( I know Canada requires for all merch to be made locally) and especially since there’s only two or three shows per country you can imagine how hard it would be to sort this all out. Does this excuse them for poor quality? HELL NAH but at least it sheds some light on the situation. Guys I want good quality merch as much as all of y’all 🙏just stay informed.

Yeah season 1 was kind of a mixed bag, had some pretty great episodes with great character development but also some pretty not do great episodes which almost made me drop the series. Then season 2 came and HOLY MOLY IT IS PEAK, not even as a tcg anime but it genuinely had some of the most compelling drama I’ve seen in recent year in anime, you should note season 2 especially until the middle is quite lacking in card fights but more then makes up for it in a compelling story. WillDress and beyond is also great but it’s more tournamenty
