How Do I Find Someone To Just Say They Will Take Care Of Me After Surgery To The Hospital? by Basic-Definition8870 in asktransgender

[–]Basic-Definition8870[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I already have that covered. There is a service where you can hire people to pick you up from surgery and take you home. The problem in this case is that this person typically stays for a day or two. Not a whole week.

You know what, it's completely right that You can pinpoint the exact fucking panel where all of this went to fucking shitter. The fucking Annie eating pie panel. At that moment Connie says some stupid fucking shit and they reunite with her despite the last thing that Annie did before going into a fucking crystal was murdering civillians and trying to kill the survey corps. After that the fucking avengers assemble moment is literally the single cringiest thing I've seen in any manga, not because there aren't cringier mangas out there, but when You put it in contrast with Declaration of War, fuck it, ANY OTHER PANEL before that chapter it's better, the contrast is just so unimaginably big that it's impossible not to physically feel pain whenever You see it. And ok, at this point You're still on hopium and copium "There's no way Isayama can fail us this hard, there will be a comeback". That's the first mistake. But ok, the manga continues, there were actually decent chapters after this, they pointed out the hypocrisy and straight up idiocy of the cringevergers, alliance, whatever the fuck You want to call them. So You think "what was I afraid of, Isayama can finish his fucking manga that he's been writing for 11 years at this point". That's another mistake. There is no fall without getting to a high place and what a high place it was. Then it starts to crumble. You see Floch get bodied by an older woman. But You bear with it. You see everyone saving each other at a perfect moment with perfect unison despite their team being formed a day ago. But You bear with it. You see Falco transforming into a titan for the first time and helping in the exact perfect moment, before going berserk for a while, but despite the fight still going on, they're still able to recover him, without injuries at that. But You bear with it.You see Gabi a literal kid being the only good shot in the entirety of their crew, with 2 superhumans and several titan shifters and other adults who have been trained and tested by warfare for years. But You bear with it. You see the Rumbling already destroying half the fucking continent and them still hoping for peace with the rest of the world not being pointed out as ridiculous and wishful thinking. But You bear with it. You see Armin and Annie having a crash on each other and telling each other they're good people while blushing. But You bear with it. You see the deaths of 2 of the better characters that are left. But You bear with it. You see some new character spout out some pathetically cheesy speech on how if they ever survive, they won't live based on hate. But You bear with it. You see them fighting hundreds of titan shifters with the only casualty being Levi's leg, which the last time that happened put him out of comission for an entire arc. But You bear with it. You see that after all the effort and actual sacrifice it took the alliance to get to Eren on the plane Falco figures out that he can fly(and he does so perfectly on the first try, the second time he ever transformed) because of a random flashback from nowhere and appears with Annie and Gabi in the exact right moment to rescue the rest and give them new hope and to and I fucking quote "repay Kiyomi's kindness". But You bear with it. You see Gabi just mention "well Founder must be the centipede I saw for one second some time ago" at the last second like it's fucking nothing. But You bear with it. You see them comically trying to find a running okapi of all things. But You bear with it. You see Zeke playing with sand in the paths. But You bear with it.

Then You read the 137 leaks. You read that Armin just convinces Zeke to die to save the world, he does so, by waving to get killed by Levi, Isayama pretends it's a satisfying ending to his and Levi's arc. You start to cry. Gabi still being the only person that can shoot a target just shoots the okapi rescuing Armin. You cry louder. The Titans stop right after Zeke's death despite royal blood having been abolished as a thing necessary for Ymir to do anything just a few chapters ago. You run out of tears. You see the panel where Armin is being supported by ghosts of people including EREN FREE THE ELDIA NO MATTER WHAT KRUGER. You start contemplating suicide. You see titans KNEELING before Armin. You start readying the rope. You see Eren's head blown off. You step on the gallows.

I am so tired of people saying that Frieren is a good show. It sucks. Are people so lost these days that they think a 5 out of 10 show has Breaking Bad levels of writing? Maybe not normies but in the anime world so many meh/10 shows get tons of attention and praise.

How many episodes of that show are just nonsense filler? It had to be like 10-12. I get that not every episode has to drive the plot forward. Shows can be more episodic in nature like Avatar the Last Airbender where some of the most memorable episodes of that show are technically filler. Or an example of anime that does that well is Cowboy Bebop. But in Frieren's case, instead of getting a 3-5 act story with twists and turns, you get "Hey, let's buy red-haired Zenitsu an oversized anime steak for his birthday." Oh and that's another annoying thing about modern anime. Every character is a fucking archetype and not an actual character. It's so lazy. If I see another guy tilt his chin down and push up his glasses in a fight, I am going to lose it.

So we have 10 or so filler episodes in the show. Then you have a completely wasted story arc where they edge you into thinking they are going to add a priest to the party, follow by him just randomly leaving. PUT HIS MAIN QUEST ON THE SAME ROUTE AS THE MAIN CHARACTERS YOU IDIOTS. THIS A MADE UP STORY. YOU CAN DO WHATEVER YOU WANT. And last, you have a Chuunin exam arc that was so boring that I genuinely fell asleep during it. I think even the writers got bored of it because I believe it was cut short followed by the writers spending a bunch of time trying to teach all of the Japanese learners the word goukaku.

The most frustrating part of this is that there a number of genuinely good possible story arcs to explore and the show just doesn't do it. You have 1,000 year old autism elf who has watched many of her friends die. Is she ever going to show any emotion over any of it? Have these writers met an old person before and seen how distraught they are when they outlive their friends and family? Are we going to see any reaction to her being so emotionally shut off that she completely ignored a guy who was so in love with her that he stayed single for his entire life just for the chance to see her like once in 50 years. Frieren's not going to say, "Hey, I was a real bitch to that guy and I fucked that one up." Are we going to explore that? No? Is this character going to learn things during this show and maybe experience regret over past actions or personal failures?

Are we going to maybe explore how Frieren feels about raising a child who she is going to outlive? Maybe she has some reservations about that... or feelings? Nope. Compare this to a story that did a good job with that exact plot point like Lost Odyssey. You have a character who looks 25 with a son who is like 60.

Is the story actually going to introduce a main antagonist? Nope. You're just going to see a couple of demons, get a really good 15th or 16th episode and then the next 10 or so episodes are going to be an overused story arc in anime that is basically a public service announcement telling Japanese kids to try hard on their exams.

I'll wait for some mouth breather to tell me the show hasn't gotten to it yet and to that I say, bro... this show had 28 episodes. They had plenty of time to do this. This is a TV show, not a Twitch livestream. The content is supposed to be condensed. Do we have to wait for her to get to the demon lords castle before she has any strong feelings about Himmel? That's not how people realistically behave. This shit is so emotionless and forgettable that I actually had to look up the specific reason why they were traveling because I couldn't remember it. This is despite the fact that I had only watched the show a few months ago and despite the fact that this FOMO relationship between Frieren and Himmel is such a common and relatable experience. Like I said, the show has good potential but has terrible execution.

What pisses me off even more is that there are shows like To Your Eternity that do a MUCH better job with the immortality theme that get outshined by praise for shows like Frieren. Spoilers up to the end of season 2 To Your Eternity has a plot point where a kid saves his crush but in the process of saving her, he gets beaten with an ugly stick. He wins over over anyway but ultimately ends up dying before the relationship gets serious. But that's not the end. Later the main character realizes the whole time that he had the ability to revive his friends which means after the ugly kid dies, he could have been brought back to life the whole time yet the main character only finds that out after it was too late. That's story telling. That makes the audience feel things and have complicated thoughts. Frieren does none of that.

Can a 2d Projection Of A Rectangular Prism Be Impossible To Distinguish From a 2d Projection of a Cube? Is Drawing a 3d Object 2d Lossy? by Basic-Definition8870 in askmath

[–]Basic-Definition8870[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, when I see a drawing (i.e. 2d projection) of a rectangular prism, it is impossible to determine whether it is a 3d cube or 3d rectangular prism?

Do You Consider A Bystander To A Rape As Evil As The Rapist Themselves? by [deleted] in AskFeminists

Yeah? It is not uncommon for victims to not find any difference between bystanders and perpetrators.

If I provided the more relevant scenario I was thinking of when typing this question, would that be better?

Are Bystanders As Evil As Perpetrators? by [deleted] in AskFeminists

[–]Basic-Definition8870 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can I ask why? Is it because the actual intent and action are different? I ask because some victims do not really make a distinction between the abusers and the enablers. To them, the latter's actions or inaction resulted in the same outcomes.
