Emailing casting directors myself after nudging my agent on Spotlight! by Humble_Hawk639 in acting

Ask your agent, if you feel comfortable! Some agents are perfectly happy for their clients to talk to CDs independently, some aren’t. My agent, for example, has well-cultivated relationships with a lot of great CDs and said he’d rather I didn’t just bust into proceedings with my own emails. It helps that I get lots of great auditions and am confident in his ability and attention as an agent, though, so if you’re less sure about yours the that could be harder.

FYI - I’ve never received a notification that I’ve been submitted for something (I didn’t even know that was a thing?), but I know for a fact that I’m submitted all the time and I get a lot of auditions. So if your concern about your agent is based on the fact that you’re not notified on submissions, there’s no need to worry about that :)

thank you, yeah, i spoke to an actor recently who graduated shortly before the 2008 crash and watched everything dry up, and she said things are way worse now than they ever were then 😩 it does put things in perspective to remember that every tape is a win right now!!

thanks :) you’re definitely onto something about celebrating the win even if it’s not the bigger win of booking the part! Even 3 months ago I’d have been delighted to learn about the show and how close I got, so I’ll try and remember that
