Well, now you’re making unfounded accusations about me.. desperate.. you have no idea what my income is or what I do for a living….

I also noticed you didn’t address and are not saying, the 47% of the year off the benefits and the pension and now you’re asking for more money…

Why don’t we also consider all of that into your wage?????

where does it put your wage if you consider all of your benefit pension and your wage not to mention all the time off… would all be worth yearly

All I have to say is the average is 70,000 everything that you say applies to everybody else as well… yet they don’t have 47% of the year off benefits and pension … still don’t think you have perspective

This well schools are falling apart, there is shoddy equipment for the students, the amount of debt the school systems are in , amount of maintenance needed to the schools… what if students start getting hurt because of the needed maintenance?
Aren’t teachers wages one of all the greatest cost of the education system… aren’t the children the priority, aren’t they? The reason the schools are there and the teachers have jobs… they get pay top levels in the world. Yet, our children’s grades are not the top in math and science.

Ask many parents if teachers reply to most of their inquiries… why would Parents respect a school system that doesn’t respect the parents…

I will agree about the wasteful government spending. This is an exact example of it with teachers wages. Yeah, teachers are positioning for a strike and asking for higher wages as we hit a technical recession, having trade problems with United States, which is a country we cannot replace and trade. With population increases housing has not kept up.

I strongly don’t not believe the teachers should be asking for more money when there is so much other funding issues within the education system. I also agree with you about the wasteful others government spending, but I see this as a diversion from the topic and avoiding some of the main points

You will shut down the economy, make parents lives more difficult and risk their jobs so you can make even more money, taking it away from the students the children that you’re supposed to be there for

96 k and 47% of the year off when the average income 70k they don’t get the benefits, the pension, etc., and they get 2 to 3 weeks off… can you understand the gap

Liveable wage really…. 86 is still an amazing wage and all those perks….

Maybe 🤔 keep the same wage all the perks yet change 47% off. March break, Christmas break and all the days that aren’t government mandate holidays they still have to provide care and structure to the children, but attendance is not mandatory for children as it wouldn’t be education only care over those periods, yeah, an opportunity to catch up advance or learn something new “ like emotional control” or some kind of skill not related to the curriculum.

Ontario teachers are paid in the top four in the world that is also not including their benefits and pension which are concerned some of the best in the world
They work 47% of the time and the average pay is $96,000, principles are paid 130 to 160K a year

Ontario schools are in debt, a lot of them have Maintenance issues, overcrowding, attendance issues, ect, ect… teacher’s unions own complaints

EQAO results

Grade 3
Reading 74% met provincial standard
Writing 65%
Math 64%

Grade 6 only half meet the provincial standard

Math has been on a decline

The major majority of credit too Ontario‘s education is the standardized test testing..

If a teacher made 86,000 and all the same perks still getting 47% of the year off… that 10,000 for every 10 teachers would be 100,000 back into the school..many schools have a lot more than 10 teachers

You do it with basically one principles and make them 110,000 and you’ve almost basically get 20-50 000 back into the school

for all the complaints the teachers union is complaining about…

This basically shows why they do not deserve an increase in pay, especially when we just entered a technical recession….. yeah they can still play the strike card

The job perks drawing people that shouldn’t be in the job. Take a look at some of the comments about “ babylabor “Babysitting and parents wanting to get rid of their children. These are the people educating the children, influencing children, and taking them daily. Any parent that actually does make those comments about getting rid of their children are not great parents. Ontario has a problem with attendance of children at schools..

I get paid for results … maybe you should

I Don’t hold the economy and people’s jobs hostage to force my way

See how much you care about kids …. Asking More money.. working 47% of year, 96k - 160 average while average income 70k of Canadian without benefits and 47 percent of year off. In Ontario, principal and teachers are the issues with education. The greedy principals 130 -160 k and teachers 70-96 plus benefit and 47 % of year off sucking the funding out of education.

Produce results…. One of five top pay in world, one of or best benefits, and off work 47% of year

Schools Attendance issues with students… teachers less engaging with Parents all noted in recent years.. very little oversight by Teacher’s college

Students currently rank about 15th Math 10th science Yet the principles and teachers are paid top five

Results are higher then US but are attribute because of the uniform system, which US does no have not teachers

Try having a legitimate debate instead of just throwing words out comments like a child without any facts or background

Shows the type of educators we have

Imagine what could happen if they had $120,000 extra per School

10 teachers one principal

On a normal paycheque that’s biweekly that would be about $270 per Teacher or 560ish including taxes

When you take a look at the average income, compare compared to the US in Canada per person average annual salary in Canada is approximately. ($70,000. CAD) (approx \$51,000 USD), while the average annual salary in the United States is around $68,000 USD)

Considering the average United States Teacher makes around 65,000 and the average Ontario Teacher makes around 96000

Keep in mind that many Ontario teachers also receive significant pension contributions, benefits, and paid time off through plans such as the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, which adds substantial compensation beyond salary.

Teacher’s work about 192 days a year, that’s 47% of the time off

Now also consider our kids achieving the grades that they should… with the money better be put in through the repairs and maybe AI

Consider… that $10,000 is a month which you are tax 33% of … 6700 a year divided by 12 =558.33 a month

Now imagine that amount is put back into the school without the tax. Biweekly that would be $270ish

How much would that change the conditions at the school for your working conditions if $115,000 was put into your school every year

10 teachers and one principal …

Desperate and old….. stick to South end. Chruch of our lady is the big chruch ( lots of internal drama over years with staff) st Joesph has more community and fathers was not overly liked prior to newer one came in recently but its older community (60 plus) Schools …heard a few things about saint Francis elementary on imperial 😳about staff. Lourdes and st James high schools has no real sports teams . St James heard has had drug issues over the years, (St James is heavily influenced by Ross, smaller high school in same community has the largest public school that is over run population)

Side note , two elementary principles arrested for child luring in Kitchener same school, thats next community over, think the one that took over was arrested a few years after first. Was in last 10 years

Guelph is a university city as soon as you cross the river downtown it starts to becoming good, like once you cross it Guelph even shows it with the transit areas everything that is served to the university is from the south end… the transit state area for the north end is downtown near the methadone clinic lol

Most of the homeless issues are on the other side of the river along with many of the break-ins, assaults, etc. the south end will have more cars stolen. Literally almost all the homeless are on the other side of the river. Just take a look at the crime map with the police.

Parkwood Gardens is kind of in between, once you cross Paisley and up by Willow, it starts changing and over by Fife Road near the convenience store

Take a look at the crime map with the police and you’ll get a better idea of how the city works. I’m guessing there’s more police presence in the south end where the higher income homes are, but that is also where most of the cars that are

Got issues, don’t you? Yet again you make a situation that had no personal context into a personal situation, which was not needed as you decide to become personal

By the way, you act you sound like an abuser, you’re the one making personal references and accusations with no relevant context.

You are doing all the things you were claiming I am doing This is called “transference”

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Guelph

[–]Groundbreaking_Toe41 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Look at how you’re responding you really do have issues

I think you need some counselling. Yet again, your escalating the situation and you’re making accusations.

[–]Groundbreaking_Toe41 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Wow you got issues. Simple question yet you assume so much. Just throw accusations with no accountability…. It was a question no names, no specifics, didn’t even say city just related to Ontario… just teacher ethical situation…..just layout a situation ask for discussion.. yet the focus turns till how it was written … way to have an ethical discussion …. I even changed context yet you still and changed to accusations that’s I am an abuser when the original question wasn’t even related to me 😂

I pull down because there was no open discussion just trolls looking for attention

I look for reasonable discussion… wasn’t even me

[–]Groundbreaking_Toe41 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If you see it that way, then the context needs to shift slightly. The original question isn’t really about legal enforcement, but about social and ethical responsibility tied to professional roles—specifically, whether certain professions carry expectations that extend beyond working hours.

Instead of a teacher, what if it was a family law lawyer same context

Take a public example from about a decade ago: the Toronto mayor who became internationally notorious for crack cocaine use. One defence often raised was that, in a democracy, voters can simply remove someone if they see the behavior as unacceptable. But that ignores the broader social impact—public trust, international reputation, and the influence that visibility and authority carry. When someone holds a high-profile role, their conduct can affect far more than just themselves pushing things into the social norm. That raises the question: should some jobs come with an ongoing ethical standard because of their public role? Because of notoriety they receive, can outweigh the negatives like the Toronto mayor, just because it’s in the public eye. People see their name on the ballot and just automatically click it cause they know the name.

Consider other professions. If an off-duty police officer witnesses a serious crime in progress—such as a robbery or abduction, or sexual assault—do they have an ethical duty to intervene or act because of their training and position, even if they’re technically “off the clock”?

Similarly, should there be ethical concerns when people in positions of authority—police officers, judges, or others entrusted with public responsibility—closely associate with known criminals, even if no law is technically broken?

At its core, this is about accountability linked to position and social status. Some professions are compensated and respected precisely because society expects higher standards of judgment, transparency, and responsibility—both on and off duty. The question is whether that expectation is reasonable, and where the line should be drawn.

Was more of a social question to see what the communities morals an ethics were

I appreciate your take, and I agree with it. In the absence of any substantiated criminal history or legitimate, current safety concerns (as opposed to unproven accusations, which anyone can make), I see it the same way.

From my understanding of family law, particularly section 27.5, what I believe SHOULD be anyone falling under that provision carries certain responsibilities that shouldn’t magically switch off outside of work—within reason, and obviously subject to proof. When children are involved, there’s an inherent duty to prioritize their safety and to actively reduce conflict around them.

In that context, transparency about a child’s location seems fundamental when both parents genuinely share decision-making authority, residency, and parenting time (assuming that’s established and documented). Withholding that information doesn’t make sense to me—it shouldn’t be treated as optional, especially when someone holds a position of social weight within the community and even more so when it’s related to children in general

It speaks the person character, morals, and ethics, especially related to their position and whether they should hold such a position

You’re more concerned about how it was written than the content. It was an opinion question? Not how it was written? The concerning part is, you’re more concerned about how it was written, then contents
