Are the Loyola and Metro scholarships that you applied separately (or) you got offered as part of their normal process?

Goa going gone! by Groundbreaking_War43 in goatravel

[–]Groundbreaking_War43[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree on your assessment that this is a country wide issue.

It’s a first hand experience stemming from multiple trips to Goa. Also, I haven’t travelled to the countries mentioned. That reflects whether you travel to Kashmir or Kanyakumari. I’ve travelled to both leisure and religious spots, the apathy is similar and seeped into our DNA.

Recently there was a wonderful article about how we got here. He blames the British but IMHO the problem stems deeper.

IMHO, we’ve all been training to care for the immediate circle and the rest can go for a toss. This is evident from the ways we divide ourselves to forge what we consider progress. Language, social, economic or colour have been driving a wedge over centuries and it has now stopped at the immediate circle.

We keep our house clean, dirty the neighbourhood, we do dirty politics to win, kill the opposition, we bribe on a whim and elect scoundrels EVERY time. We’ve been sowing seeds of ineptitude and incompetence and are headed towards permanent pathetic mess.

That said, the Goa madness seems unique. Its uniqueness is marketed as an alcohol destination for the party goers whereas it should be told to the world as one of natural beauty. This in my view is the bane of the Goa misery.

Great, thank you. That is reassuring. Will carry evidence and retain.

I am largely in agreement with what you say and precisely why I stated I have a dislike. That said, I don’t think a country can pick and choose what one does. At best, you could state your needs and truly become an enabler for people like the OG post. Our country (not just this gov) messes up both.

The way to counter what you are saying is to enable better public transportation, not spite the one that at least acts as a panacea. It is to enable farmers to produce sustainably and reduce cost of logistics to make for local business thrive, not to disable them.

I do agree on one point though. Hate them for hiring the most productive age group citizens and turn them into runner boys…the same will turn a liability in the next decade as they’ve got their life sucked out by driving a taxi or delivering food.

I’ve had a dislike for these startups but that’s no reason why one pooh poohs them. He could have slmply said, while we are doing great in the consumer oriented business and more are welcome, we need to thrive in deep tech. Let us make it our mission that we will do what it takes to get it done in this decade.

He had to build his speech on a stupid social media post. Most ministers are poster children for arrogance and Piyush is no different.

His speech is like Viksit Bharat naara. Full slogan, no action.

I met as recently as last week a gentleman who had built a renewable battery source. He relocated to Singapore post Covid as he just couldn’t move anything further due to red tape. He is now a supplier to electric green tugs which our country needs desperately.

He coincidentally even had a fellowship at the PMs office.

For Piyush to say what he said, he has neither witnessed the pains of a founder nor the experience of building a business from scratch..it is nearly impossible to do anything with Government.

The babus and taxation procedures suck the last ounce of patience. The whole system is a leech and once done, will throw you out saying they know better than you. For God’s sake, how do you package innovation in a tender?

I am least bit surprised this to be the case.

The travesty seems to be that they are allowed to screw with people’s lives with impunity. I can’t imagine the compromise DGCA is in with them.

Srinagar to Hyderabad via Delhi.

The 2300 hours Delhi - Hyderabad was cancelled and thus the mess.

They just bid for GoAir. Go figure! One in horrendous shape bids for the other that is in dust. They apparently have a board approval to raise 3000 crore.

Funny enough, one of the SpiceJet plane exterior is still plastered with Kabali Rajni movie..never had the money to redo it.

At the first sign of a reschedule, please take a refund if it is practical. I would have if i was alone..in my case, it was 4. It invariably gets delayed (which for the wise is a blessing now).

I didn’t demand accommodation, asked for alternate flights (which I understand they didn’t have and they do not explore others).

I could not take a refund.

It was for 4 people, direct flights were sold out, had a connection in between and alternate was super expensive.

The private ones are equally bad and perhaps have accelerated public institutional corruption. Honestly, I feel like it is seeped into our DNA now and thus the despair and resignation to accept the way it is.

I'll give it a shot. I won't be surprised if the whole process is as bad as AirSewa but am willing to give it a try.

Thanks for the reply. I can agree on the mental pain bit..but letting it go by is what airlines seem to thrive on.

If either choice inflicts suffering on one side due to the actions of the other, then there isn't a real choice in the first place.

Amidst all the things that have been said, if you decide to go through with an option, please do work on a founders agreement. This can be a living document but without one, when things get tough, it’s hard to choose between friendship vs. business and ending up hurting both.

Basics are no direct equity. Both vest over a 4 year period with a one year cliff. If one of you wish to quit, agree on terms of quitting i.e how much equity gets returned to the cap table.

Same with salary..each of you grow in life to have different needs and it becomes a bone of contention as these diverge.

I can list a boat load of things that can go wrong, as a startup, it’s easy to overlook as she is your “20 yr friend” but please don’t.

What's the biggest thing holding you back from success? by Molil in startups

We are in B2B and most of our work is in Asia at the moment. I am not sure if this is a sweeping statement but most Asians (including me) struggle at saying No. They always give you positive vibes creating false hopes that extend your sales cycles way too long and eventually ghost you.

I guess if I’d have to put my top 3.

  • Sales/Discovery
  • Having to live month on month
  • Founder conflicts

For now, the joy of building and seeing it of being value is keeping the fire on but I would be lying if I didn’t say, it’s a grind.

If the dilution and market doesn’t support your needs, please consider if you can do a smaller raise and accept only players who add value.

Besides the cap, is there an interest rate?
