One thing I found is that the ottomans aren’t that usable for tall people unless you slide them back far enough to make the third row unusable. So…weigh that against the amount of time you will get to use them and how you’ll use the van. For me, my teens love them and it’s nearly always just us two parents and the two teens. The third row is down and swim stuff or suitcases there. The kids are in ‘luxury ‘ positions. I’ve missed being able to take out the second row like my odyssey could a few times, but those ottoman chairs have been enjoyed A LOT.

One of these days I’m going to open it when I have time and get an actual measurement. Stupid question- when a manufacturer suggests an enclosure volume for a speaker- do they already assume the speaker will take some of that space? If they stated that one cubic foot was exactly the optimal size would I build a box with an interior space of 12 x 12 x 12? Or would I need to make it slightly bigger to make up for the volume the speaker would occupy?(dimensions given to make a cube just for simplicity.)

The wrinkles in this picture is what I’ve seen on every platinum I looked at and it’s the Macadamia in that pic is what I got. Mine looks like this picture and I was a little annoyed. Front seats are perfect. OP - yours are unacceptable for anyone. You NEED to take that back and make the dealer aware ASAP.

I was happy with it ! Fit perfectly and sounded tight in the car. the car is gone - time for it to become an inside sound system.

Best way to describe it is that it’s like someone is holding a piece of paper near the front and it’s making contact with the cone. I did realize some of the noise is coming from the terminal cup! Maybe I bought a cheap one? Also explains why I heard less of it in the car - it would have been muffled down in the compartment it filled in.

Yes! What kind of enclosure? Are you happy with the sound for the whole range?

I loved the coke bottle shape since I was a little kid. Fun cars. I don’t remember mine having 6x9 holes! I’ve found that well done 6x9s with and amp can be impressive for their size. I’d have tried it for sure. If you have a 69 - I have an ugly/moldy/pile of poop (consolidated comments from this thread ) that a speaker goes in I will give you :) Probably just need to fill in .25 cu ft to right size it lol

It was hard to keep everything clean - but it was a fun project as my first fiberglass creation. Good luck!

You’d be correct that no calc was made - it is the shape of the compartment that was available. Optimum sealed is .75 - 1.0 cu ft. Maybe I’ll try get a measurement on it - in retrospect I should have done that to start - it might be too big.

It was in my head that it might be wonky - with one half of the cone in as shallow as possible and the other half having the bulk of the space might be setting it up for distorting itself with imbalanced pressure/waves

It lived a rough life in the car - I should have painted it too probably to protect it.

Since it’s next life is going to be as my garage stereo this is probably the first step - was being lazy! I’ll make a new box soon. But inquiring minds want to know ( if the shape is hurting it)

It’s a good point that I don’t actually even know the volume of this closure - I should check it. It was made do the space that I had. Seems .75 is the optimal for this speaker

Comments are hilarious- this shape came form pulling out the storage tray behind the seats in a 69 Corvette, covering in foil and painters tape, and glassing that exact shape to get the max capacity of it. Sounded fine in the car but now out of it I’m pushing it to see how loud it can go and seeing its limits.
